Damian fell to the ground and turned around quickly as he heard a body drop. The torch rolled from Hugo's hand and showed Damian the large pool of blood that was now leaking from his head.
"H-Hugo…?" Damian muttered in shock. He turned towards the side and saw that a person was standing there. He immediately scrambled to grab the torch and pointed it at the person's face.
Jang looked shell-shocked. His eyes were wide and the bloody stick in his hand was shaking uncontrollably.
"No- No. No. No! What the hell were you thinking, you idiot! You weren't meant to jump in there!"
Damian scrambled to his feet and took a step back from Jang as he saw the fury in his face. He was going mad.
"Why did you push him, you idiot!"
Damian took another step back and his foot made a crunch as he stepped on a branch. Jang turned towards him sharply and Damian shivered at the mad look in his eyes.
"You! You can't leave here! You can't tell anyone!"
Damian turned and tried to run, but before he even took three steps forward Jang was already on him. Damn, he was slow.
"You can't tell anyone!" Jang shouted while forcing Damian to the ground. His sloppy punch slammed Damian's face in.
"You can't tell anyone! Say you won't tell! Say it!!"
Slam!
Slam!!
Slam!!!
Damian's glasses broke off his face and flew away. His vision grew blurry but he could easily make out Jang's wide red eyes. A fist came down and smashed into his face again and again and again.
"I said say it! Say it! You won't tell anyone! I know! I know what to do!"
Slam! Slam!
"I'll just kill you too!! Then there'll be no one to say anything!!"
Slam! Slam! Slam!
Jang picked a sharp stick from the side and prepared to drive it into Damian, but a rustle from the forest drew his attention. He turned towards the darkness sharply to see what was there.
Damian groaned in pain. His entire face was smashed in. Blood was pooling under his head and his nose was bent in the wrong direction. He turned his head towards the direction where the rustling came from and he squinted to try getting a look at what was there.
A crunch sounded from that direction, a pair of red eyes glared through the darkness and a creature growled. Jang fell off of Damianme in fright and began to scoot backward. The creature came closer until Damian could make out what it looked like.
It was a large wolf with huge teeth. Its fur was completely black and its eyes were blood red. Jang scrambled to his feet once he saw what the creature looked like and he ran away from the clearing.
Damian rose his hand towards Jang, trying to get him to take him along, but he was already gone. Damian turned towards the creature and saw it looking in the direction Jang ran. He struggled to turn around before placing his hand on the ground and trying to push himself up.
The creature looked towards him, and then it pounced on him.
RAARGGGHHH!
It threw Damian to the ground and Damian screamed as he fell on his hand. A crack resounded through the forest as it bent in the wrong direction.
The monster didn't let up, it began trying to get to his face, but Damian rose his hand up and used his one good hand to try getting it away from him. He managed to kick it back and then he turned and began clawing at the ground.
"H-Help! He-elp me! Help me! AARRGGHH!!"
Large teeth bit into his leg and Damian screamed. He started using his other leg to kick it, but the wolf tore through his skin as it began dragging him backward. Damian heard another rustle from the side and he turned towards it hopefully, but that hope died a brutal death as he saw another wolf come out from the forest.
It ran forward and bit into his hand and he shouted as he felt his bone creak and bend. The wolf swung its head from side to side till Damian felt his skin tearing away from his hand. He screamed and still tried to claw his way away from the monsters with his other hand. Tears were now leaking down his eyes.
How long had it been since he cried? He couldn't remember.
"Somebody, please! Please, help me!"
Crunch!
"ARRGH!!"
Damian lost all feeling in his right hand and he gave one last attempt at shouting for help. But there was no one at all. Everyone had left him. He was all alone.
His eyes slowly closed and the pain in his body became dull. They were an outside body experience and he just wanted to sleep.
BANG!
The sound of a shot being fired echoed through the night.
BANG!
BANG!
The pain in his hand and feet lessened and Damian opened his eyes slowly to see someone standing in front of him.
"Hey!" the person said as he bent down to one knee, "Hey are you still alive!?"
Damian groaned and he heard the person curse. The trees rustled and then more of the wolves jumped out from the foliage. From his place on the floor, Damian could make out the blurry image of at least five wolves on his side alone.
A hand dug into his shoulder and Damian groaned as he was hoisted up from the floor and to his feet.
BANG!
BANG!
More gunshots.
"Stay with me, alright!" the person shouted, "Just hold on!"
BANG! BANG!
"GROWL!"
"Shit!!" Damian was roughly thrown over the person's shoulder and the person turned to run away, but Damian suddenly felt him stop in his tracks.
The trees in front of them twisted and bent out of the way as a large paw emerged from the dark forest. A giant wolf that was at least twice the size of a grown man looked down at the two of them with a snarl.
"Fuck," he took a step back in shock, "What is a B-class doing here? This isn't normal anymore"
The monster wolf rose its paw up above the two of them, looming over them like an executioner's blade before it swiped at them. The person jumped to the side to avoid it, but the other wolves in the area suddenly pounced on him. They tackled him to the ground and dragged Damian away from him.
"No!" he shouted, "Dammit!"
The giant wolf swiped at him again and he had to jump even further away to avoid it. He cursed as he saw the wolves biting into a motionless Damian, tearing through his skin and clothes. He reached behind him and brought out a short pole. He pressed a button at the side and it extended till it was almost as long as he was tall.
A wolf jumped at him and he twirled the pole in the air. Blue sparks danced along the edge of the metal and then lightning surged through it.
He slammed the wolf to the side like it was a baseball and the pole drove five hundred volts of electricity through it. It flew back with a yelp and didn't get up. More and more wolves charged him and he began to fight them off, hitting and beating them away expertly. The large wolf in front of him didn't let up at all. It slammed its paw down on the ground and created a tremor, making the man lose his balance slightly. He dodged around a smaller wolf that attempted to blindside him, but he wasn't able to get away from another one that came from behind him.
It slammed into him like a train and dug its claws into his back. He grunted in pain and fell to one knee. He rolled out of the slam from another wolf and reached back to grab the first wolf off him. Another wolf slammed into him and he finally fell on his back.
Damian was in pain. He felt his muscles being torn into. He felt his blood spilling from his insides. He felt the wolves raking their claws over his body. He simply lay there on his belly, motionless as the dead.
'Why aren't I dead yet?' he wondered in his mind, 'It hurts. It hurts. It hurts. So why aren't I dead yet? I want to die. I want o die so badly.'
A monster tore into his calf and another one bit down on his shoulder.
'It hurts.'
A wolf dug its claws into his back.
'It hurts so much. It… hurts…'
At the side, the person who had come to help was being overwhelmed by the monsters, but he suddenly felt something change in the air around him. He rose his polearm up and pressed the button. It extended and lightning arched around it, making all the wolves jump away from him with a yelp. He prepared for another charge from them but they never came, instead, they were all looking at something behind him. Something that made them step back in fear.
He turned around slowly and his eyes widened as they landed on the personification of hell itself.
The forest was on fire.
Everything burned with a black flame that threatened to swallow the night in it's darkness.
And in the middle of it all, standing with a wolf clutched in each hand and his eyes a blood-red, was Damian.
