"Are you okay now? "he asked. But lena didn't hear him. All the she can see was the man or whatever.
A man stood there. Tall, hooded. His presence was eerily calm amid the chaos. His fingers cold against her shoulder .
Then he leaned closer, just a bit to cast a shadow on flour.
His whisper was like the scrape of dry leaves across concrete.
"Come back to me, Lena AyaBurg."
Time stopped.
Her entire body locked in place.
That voice.
That voice she had heard before—long ago, buried in a part of her soul that Lena had fought so hard to rescue her from and long forgotten in depth of her.
