Listening to Jack's aggressive declaration, Pepper suddenly felt her heartbeat quicken. Her face grew slightly warm as she glared at him.
"What nonsense are you talking about? I'm not your woman."
Tony clenched his fists tightly and roared, "Pepper is not your woman! What kind of joke is this?"
Killian smiled with great interest.
"Interesting. It seems bringing you here was absolutely the right decision."
Jack's smile slowly disappeared.
"My patience has completely run out. It's time to send you on your way."
He slowly raised a hand to his face. His pupils changed instantly.
Killian's expression changed dramatically.
"What did you do?"
He suddenly realized he couldn't move. No matter how hard he struggled, his body refused to obey him.
Tony looked at him with disdain.
"That's his Thought Power. You don't even understand his abilities, yet you still dared to challenge him."
Jack vanished instantly.
The next moment, he appeared beside Pepper.
Without hesitation, he pulled her into his embrace.
"You're safe now."
Pepper froze for a moment after suddenly being pulled into Jack's arms. Then she immediately began pushing against his chest with all her strength.
"Why did you save me? I don't need you to rescue me! It would've been better if you had just let me die!"
Jack simply held her tighter.
"Stop struggling. If you keep making trouble, there'll be consequences."
"I'm making trouble? Making trouble?" Pepper shouted angrily. "Do you even understand what I've been through? Ever since you dragged me into all of this, I've lived every single day in fear. I never know when I might die. Can't I vent my frustration for once?"
Jack smiled mischievously.
"Of course you can."
"Then let me help you vent."
"What are you going to—"
Before Pepper could finish speaking, Jack leaned forward and kissed her.
Her eyes widened instantly.
She tried to push him away at first, but Jack didn't give her the chance. The sudden kiss completely interrupted her words, leaving her momentarily stunned.
Pepper glared at him fiercely.
Gradually...
Her resistance weakened.
She slowly closed her eyes.
Her hands unconsciously gripped Jack's waist as her tense body relaxed little by little.
Above them, Tony felt as if his lungs were about to explode from rage.
"Jack! Pepper!"
"Damn you!"
"I'll kill both of you!"
Unable to hold back any longer, Tony charged toward them.
"Jack! Die!"
He threw a furious punch at Jack.
Before his fist could even touch him, an invisible force slammed into Tony's body.
"Argh!"
Tony was blasted backward.
Pepper immediately regained her senses and tried to push Jack away.
"Enough...!"
Jack looked at her with an evil smile.
"Don't think about anything else."
"For now... just let everything go."
Pepper bit her lip in frustration.
"You... you hateful man..."
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The Iron Man armors under Jarvis' control unleashed another barrage of missiles and repulsor blasts.
Explosions erupted continuously around Jack.
A transparent Thought Power barrier surrounded him and Pepper.
Wave after wave of explosions struck the barrier, causing it to ripple like the surface of water, yet it never showed any sign of breaking.
Inside the barrier...
Everything remained peaceful.
Jack and Pepper stood there completely untouched, isolated from the chaos outside.
Tony's eyes became bloodshot.
Every vein on his forehead bulged with rage.
The overwhelming jealousy and hatred nearly drove him mad.
"Pepper!"
"I'll never forgive you!"
"Jack!"
"I'll kill you!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Several Iron Man armors slammed directly into the psychic barrier, desperately trying to break through.
Jack finally loosened his embrace and looked at Pepper with a smile.
"How do you feel now?"
Pepper breathed heavily, glaring at him.
"Feel?"
"I don't feel anything."
"I only know one thing..."
"I want to kill you."
Jack chuckled.
"Do you really?"
Outside the barrier, Tony continued smashing his fists against the invisible wall.
"Jack!"
"If you've got the courage, come out and fight me!"
Pepper looked through the barrier at Tony's furious expression.
A trace of guilt flashed across her eyes.
"I'm sorry... Tony..."
Tony's face twisted with anger.
"Don't apologize to me!"
"You cheap woman!"
"Ever since Jack took you away, I've done everything I could to become stronger. I wanted nothing more than to rescue you."
"Even after you refused to come with me in New Mexico, I still believed one day you'd change your mind."
"And this..."
"This is how you repay me?"
"You actually fell for Jack?"
Pepper lowered her head.
"I... I don't like Jack..."
Her voice was soft, lacking the confidence she wanted to have.
Jack spoke calmly.
"Tony Stark."
"You're mistaken."
"There has never been any relationship between you and Pepper."
"The only connection you ever had was employer and employee."
"Nothing more."
Tony roared angrily.
"Shut up!"
"If it weren't for you..."
"If it weren't for you..."
"Pepper and I would never have ended up like this!"
Jack gently wrapped an arm around Pepper's shoulders.
"No."
"You're the one who's mistaken."
"Pepper has never owed you anything."
He looked at Pepper.
"Lift your head."
"Look at this fool."
"You don't owe him anything."
Pepper slowly raised her head.
She looked directly into Tony's furious eyes before finally speaking loudly.
"Tony..."
"I'm not some cheap woman."
"What exactly do I owe you?"
"All these years I worked endlessly for you."
"I managed Stark Industries while you spent your time partying, building Iron Man armors, and doing whatever you wanted."
"What have you ever done for me?"
Tony opened his mouth.
"I..."
But no words came out.
Pepper continued.
"You've done nothing."
"I was always the one taking care of everything."
"When Jack took me away..."
"Did you ever stop to think about how important I actually was to you before that?"
Her voice carried both sadness and disappointment.
Tony remained silent for several moments.
Finally, determination filled his eyes.
"Pepper..."
"Come back to me."
"I don't care about anything else anymore."
"I don't want money."
"I don't want power."
"I only want you."
"I love you."
"Come with me."
"I promise..."
"I'll treat you well."
"We'll be happy together."
