Sif was training in the Immortal Palace training grounds as usual, practicing with unusual intensity.
The sound of steel striking steel echoed throughout the enormous training ground. Every swing of her sword was precise and powerful, but there was a faint trace of anger behind every movement. Sweat had already soaked through her clothes, yet Sif showed no intention of stopping.
She had only one thought in her mind.
She must defeat that fellow.
She must defeat him and make him pay the serious price.
Jack.
That damnable man.
The more Sif thought about him, the more hateful she became. The memory of their previous encounters still remained fresh in her mind. She hated his arrogance, his shameless attitude, and especially the way he always seemed to treat everything around him as though nothing in the world could possibly threaten him.
"Jack... that damnable scum. I will defeat you one day."
Sif swung her sword again with all her strength.
Suddenly, a flustered cry came from outside the training grounds.
"It was a big deal! A big deal! Call all the Asgard soldiers!"
Sif's expression changed.
She immediately stopped training and turned toward the sky.
Several Asgardian soldiers were already rushing toward the source of the disturbance. Their expressions were unusually serious, and the atmosphere throughout the Immortal Palace instantly became tense.
"What happened?"
Sif quickly picked up her sword and followed the soldiers, flying toward the distant spatial disturbance.
As she approached, her eyes widened.
She saw him.
Jack.
That damnable man had actually dared to come to Asgard.
But what shocked Sif even more was what he was doing.
He was carrying a woman in his arms.
Sif's expression became ugly.
"That fellow actually dares to come to Asgard, and he is even hugging a woman?"
Her anger immediately rose.
Was he here simply to enjoy the beauties of Asgard?
"Hateful. Hateful!"
Sif could not bear it anymore.
"Jack!"
Jack turned toward the voice.
The moment he saw Sif, a wicked smile appeared on his face.
"Odin, you did not ask what my goal was. Let me tell you. Father has come to discuss marriage."
The atmosphere immediately became strangely silent.
"Discuss marriage?"
Everyone stared at Jack.
Marriage?
This man, who had caused such a huge disaster in Asgard before, had actually come here to discuss marriage?
Jane Foster, who was still being held in Jack's arms, could not help herself. She reached around and pinched Jack's waist fiercely.
"I said, how could you possibly be thinking about Asgard? Originally, you came here to discuss marriage and prepared to damage another beauty?"
Jane looked toward Sif.
"Is she that angry woman? She is called Sif, probably. She actually looks quite valiant."
Jack simply smiled.
Odin frowned.
"Discuss marriage? To whom do you intend to propose?"
Jack raised his hand and pointed directly at Sif.
"She."
"Sif?!"
Several Asgardians exclaimed simultaneously.
Sif herself froze for several seconds.
Then her face flushed with anger.
She shouted toward Jack, "Are you cracking a joke?"
"I have not cracked a joke. I came to discuss marriage with you."
Jack shrugged as though he had just said something completely ordinary.
"This is impossible!" Sif shouted. "You, you damnable fellow, give up any idea of deceiving me!"
Jack nodded seriously.
"Good. This is indeed somewhat shocking. I understand that you cannot accept it immediately. Take your time."
Jane's hand continued pinching Jack's waist.
"Bastard, bastard, bastard, bastard..."
Jack leaned slightly toward her and smiled.
"Jane Foster, you should not be angry. When the time comes, we can get married together."
"Who must marry you?"
Jane immediately turned her head away.
Thor finally could not remain silent.
"This is a joke! This marriage proposal is absolutely impossible to comply with. Sif is impossible to marry you!"
"Yes!"
Hogun, Fandral, and Volstagg immediately echoed him.
However, Loki, who had been watching the entire scene with amusement, suddenly smiled.
"I actually think this is a very perfect matter. Mr. Jack is a super powerhouse, while Sif is one of Asgard's most powerful and beautiful women. If they are joined together, would that not be a pair created by heaven and earth? I really do not understand why everyone must oppose it."
Jack immediately looked at Loki with appreciation.
"Loki, I have discovered that I like listening to you speak more and more."
"This is my honor," Loki replied with a smile. "When the time comes, please let me drink a glass of the celebration wine."
Jack nodded.
"Of course."
Then Jack looked toward Odin.
"Odin, what do you think? If you do not agree, I may simply snatch her directly."
Odin's expression became solemn.
"Are you threatening me?"
Jack casually waved his hand.
"This is not a threat. I am telling you what I will really do. Odin, the Tesseract is in my hands. I can come whenever I want and leave whenever I want. If I want to take someone away, or destroy something, what can you do to me?"
The surrounding Asgardian soldiers immediately became furious.
Their hands tightened around their weapons.
Although they hated Jack, none of them dared to act recklessly.
They knew that Jack was not someone who made empty threats.
One soldier finally shouted, "King of the Gods, let us eliminate him together! Even if we have to drain away Asgard's last drop of blood!"
Odin immediately raised his hand.
"The people of Asgard should not be dragged into another disaster for this reason."
The soldier reluctantly lowered his weapon.
Odin looked toward Jack.
"Jack, did you come to Asgard this time intending to provoke another war?"
Jack shook his head.
"I have no such intention. I came to discuss marriage. There is a saying on Earth: enmities should be unmade, not made. Odin, we have had contradictions before, but we can become reconciled. Would that not be a good deed?"
Thor immediately objected.
"It cannot simply be considered finished, Royal Father! The things he has done to Asgard are too numerous to count!"
"Yes, it cannot end like this!"
"He must pay the serious price!"
Several Asgardians spoke at once.
Odin remained silent.
His gaze swept across the soldiers.
He understood their hatred.
More than a year ago, many of these warriors had personally experienced the devastation caused by Jack. They had seen their homeland turned into a battlefield. They had fought desperately to protect Asgard and had witnessed countless comrades being injured.
How could they simply forget?
But Odin also understood the other side.
Jack was not someone Asgard could easily eliminate.
If another battle started, the result could be even worse than before.
After a long silence, Odin finally spoke.
"I know how I should deal with this."
Everyone gradually became quiet.
Odin looked directly at Jack.
"Jack, the sins you committed against Asgard are difficult to forgive. However, hatred should not continue endlessly. If hatred is allowed to deepen, it will only cause more suffering to our people and to future generations."
His voice became firm.
"Jack, if you commit another crime against Asgard, I, Odin, swear that I will personally put you to death."
Thor stared at Odin.
"Royal Father, you are forgiving him like this?"
"King of the Gods..."
The surrounding soldiers looked toward Odin anxiously.
Odin shook his head.
"Hatred should not be allowed to deepen. For the sake of future generations, this is the best solution. There is no need to say anything more. My decision has been made."
Jack smiled.
"Odin is Odin. Congratulations on making the correct choice."
He spread his arms casually.
"Since you have shown me the proper respect, I will also do what I can to avoid causing destruction. Originally, I was almost prepared to go all out."
The expressions of the surrounding soldiers changed.
They remembered the previous disaster.
The majority of the warriors present had personally experienced that battle. Just remembering it was enough to make some of them uneasy.
If they had really fought Jack today, the result could have been another slaughter.
Although many remained unwilling, they gradually understood why Odin had chosen this path.
Jack smiled.
"Odin, I should also make up for some of the trouble I once caused Asgard."
Thor immediately frowned.
"Do you mean the trouble you created? What puzzle are you talking about?"
Odin calmly interrupted him.
"Thor, calm yourself."
Thor reluctantly remained silent.
Jack looked toward him and smiled.
"Your anger is really big. Unfortunately, your strength has not actually increased much. This is truly a sorrow."
"You..."
"Thor, be quiet," Odin ordered. Then he looked toward Jack. "Jack, continue."
Jack nodded.
"The Rainbow Bridge was destroyed. I have decided to use the Tesseract's energy to reconstruct it. How do you feel about that?"
Odin's expression changed slightly.
"If you truly intend to do so, then that would indeed be a good deed for Asgard."
Jack raised an eyebrow.
"What about the matter of discussing marriage?"
Odin's gaze became profound.
"If you marry someone from Asgard, then you will have a relationship with Asgard itself. Perhaps that would also be a good deed. I will not oppose it."
He paused.
Then his eyes moved toward Sif.
"Sif, how do you see it?"
For a moment, the entire area became completely silent.
Everyone turned toward Sif.
Sif stood there with her sword still hanging at her side, her expression stiff with disbelief.
She had come here expecting another confrontation with Jack.
She had never imagined that she would suddenly become the subject of a marriage proposal.
Her fingers tightened around the sword.
"Me?"
Jack looked at her with a wicked smile.
"Of course. Who else?"
Sif's face instantly turned red with anger.
"This damnable fellow..." she muttered.
The surrounding Asgardians looked at one another.
Some were shocked.
Some were amused.
And Loki's smile had already become considerably wider.
For Jack, however, everything seemed completely natural.
He had come to Asgard for several reasons.
But if he could turn an old enemy into a future ally—and perhaps gain another powerful woman at the same time—why would he refuse?
As for Sif...
She still had no idea what kind of trouble had just found her.
