Chapter 19 - Chapter 17: Boredom

Chapter 17: BoredomAuthor: Geraint(MC's POV)

A few days later, All Might brought me to a facility for a medical check-up. Sir Nighteye joined us and, upon entering the building, casually placed a hand on my shoulder.

"Look into my eyes," he said firmly.

His sclera darkened and his irises turned purple—his Quirk, Foresight, activating.

I didn't resist. Just stared back.

His Quirk lets him see a person's future from a third-person perspective. To use it, he needs to touch the person and make direct eye contact. Once activated, it lasts for an hour but needs 24 hours before it can be used again.

(What kind of future is he seeing right now? I'm kinda nervous.)

Sir Nighteye might look stoic and stern, but that didn't faze me. I've had plenty of staredowns in my previous life as a mixed martial artist. Those guys tried to intimidate me too. All bark—then they'd hit the mat without even realizing what happened.

He stared at me for a few more seconds before suddenly mumbling to himself.

"Mirko? Whose child is she—? Wait! I'll check a different timeline…"

His expression shifted from calm to outright confused.

"What is this?! Why is it different for every timeline? Impossible! What's going on?! All Might was supposed to—!"

Then he abruptly shut his eyes.

"All Might?" I asked. "Something wrong with him?"

All Might looked alarmed. "Sir Nighteye? What did you see?"

"Sorry, All Might," he muttered, adjusting his glasses. "I need to return. We'll talk later—on the phone."

And just like that, he turned and walked away.

"Wait! You just saw my future, right? At least give me a hint!"

He paused, glanced over his shoulder, then gave me a tired look.

"You're a troublesome one, Falcon. You defy every future I've seen. You're an anomaly."

"Tch—whatever! I heard you mention Mirko. Just tell me—what's going on with her?"

He looked even more annoyed.

"Find out for yourself."

Then he left, just like that.

(Huh? Rumi's… carrying a child? Is it mine… or someone else's?)

Now I couldn't stop thinking about it.

After the check-up, we returned home.

Bored out of my mind, I collapsed onto the couch and pulled out my phone. My wallpaper was a photo of Rumi and me during a workout—both smiling. She'd taken it herself. Now, though, we barely had time together. All Might's declining health, plus the disappearance of Captain Falcon, changed everything. I was just a regular kid now—no bounty hunting, no real purpose.

Crime was rising again. Rumi was always traveling around Japan, fighting villains and picking up the slack left by those useless Pro Heroes. Honestly, they felt more like clowns in costume than real protectors. No drive. No competition.

I wanted to hang out with Rumi, but I couldn't even leave the building without telling All Might. This was what it meant to have a "parent," I guess. Nice in a way… but also annoying.

I sighed and shut my eyes, thinking again about what Sir Nighteye saw.

Ring Ring

My phone buzzed. I quickly sat up and answered.

"Hello?"

"Ichika! How are you?!"

Rumi's loud, energetic voice rang in my ear. I smiled, forgetting all about that weird prophecy.

"I'm good. Just been napping all day. Kinda bored, honestly. What about you? Anything exciting happen?"

"Just finished up a mission. Looks like a villain group's working behind the scenes. I'm in Okinawa now."

Villain organization? That rang a bell.

"Hm… Did anything stand out? Like strange devices, weapons, or support items?"

"Wait—how'd you know that? Are you psychic or something?"

"I'm not! It's called information gathering, you sillyhead. Did you forget I was Captain Falcon, the bounty hunter? I've got connections."

Okay, most of it was from my past life… but still.

"Haha! I forgot. It's still hard to believe you're Falcon."

"Shut up."

"Hehe. Anyway, we couldn't recover any of their support items. They all self-destructed when the villains were taken down."

I frowned. "Figures. It's them, then."

"Huh? You know who they are?"

"Yeah. It's the Meta Liberation Army. They believe quirks should be used freely without regulation. Basically, they're quirk-worshipping terrorists."

"WHAT?!"

"Hm?"

I looked over and saw All Might—deflated, wearing an apron—staring at me from the kitchen, completely stunned.

"Wait, Ichika. You know about that organization?! Why didn't you say anything?!"

"You never asked, Dad. There's no bounty on their leader, so I didn't bother. Waste of time."

"Then please, tell me everything later."

"Sure."

He went back to the stove, still visibly rattled.

Back to the call.

"You hear that? No being reckless, Rumi."

"But they're strong, right? I want to fight them!"

"Didn't you hear me?! Don't go after them alone. Leave it to the pros—or what's left of them."

"No way! I've been dying for a good fight!"

I sighed. "Am I not enough of a challenge for you?"

"You don't even fight back! You just dodge my kicks!"

"Well… now that you know I'm Falcon, there's nothing stopping me anymore. But I might fight you with my non-dominant hand… to make it fair."

"EXCUSE ME?!"

I grinned. She was definitely pissed.

"Hehe."

"Damn you, Ichika! I'm gonna beat the crap out of you when I get back!"

"Don't forget my souvenir. And call me when you land—I'll pick you up."

Click.

She ended the call.

"Hahaha!"

I hopped off the couch and walked into the kitchen.

"Dad, I want to eat something fancy today."

"Huh?"

"I'll cook."

(Oh, right—speaking of the Meta Liberation Army, the Grand Commander is Re-Destro. His real name's Rikiya Yotsubashi. He's also the CEO of the Detnerat Company.)

Rikiya's a tall, sharp-looking man with a long, pointed nose and a receding hairline. No visible eyebrows, two dark moles on his forehead… he stands out, even in a crowd.

I wanted to meet him. But I couldn't transform into Captain Falcon anymore. My identity had already been exposed to the Hero Association and the police.

I couldn't just go back to bounty hunting or vigilante work. I'd end up in custody again.

…It was frustrating.

Spotting the remote, I turned on the TV and joined All Might in the kitchen.

On-screen was an animal documentary. Something about a weird creature called the platypus.

(They're venomous? Wait—!)

A sudden memory from my past life clicked in my mind, and I grinned wide.

"Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, it's a platypus wearing a fedora…"

I narrowed my eyes.

"Re-Destro… I'm coming for you."

All Might glanced over, clearly confused.

"Ichika?"

(To be continued.)

(A/N: I'll fix my mistakes later.)
