Chapter 622 - New Challenge 15

The body of Alyssia twisted from that position, giving her a clear enough view above as one leg moved to lie flat on the ground, giving her more balance and support, while the other flew upward in a reverse kick.

The move was inspired by the compass crescent, which was a technique found in martial arts like englolo and capoeira, that combined an evasive manoeuvre with a reverse kick.

A lot of her kicking techniques had been inspired by styles of her old world and styles she had come across during her adventures collecting all kinds of leg-based martial arts.

Further honing of those styles had allowed her to find various ways of perfecting them further so that they suit her current body more.

One move was deceptive to cut off the escape of Una from one side, which came around moments after Alyssia turned her body to deliver the reverse kick toward the chin of Una.

One hit the target with enough force to make anyone pass out as the shockwave and other applying effects were enough to take down even the strongest of people.

It could cause a knockout due to the rapid rotation of the head, which could disrupt the normal functioning of the brain.

Such a targeted attack could lead to temporary loss of consciousness, as the chin was a prime target for knockouts, as it would provide a clear impact point that efficiently translates kinetic energy into rotational momentum.

That generated rotational forces on the head could cause the brain to twist rapidly, leading to a shearing effect that damages the delicate nerve fibres and impacts the brain's reticular activating system, which is crucial for regulating wakefulness and attention.

Una's head fell back as her body seemed to freeze in place.

It seemed like she had blacked out for a moment, but it did not last long.

Her strong willpower allowed her to snap back into an awakened state, allowing her to move quickly to continue the fight.

Just as she was about to deliver a blow toward Alyssia, who was lower on the ground, Alyssia made a sharp rotation again.

The rotation aided the tail that had already been moving toward the side of the head of Una in that moment.

It came whipping around, causing another huge impact that knocked the head of Una, snapping it to the other side.

Alyssia continued her onslaught as she kept rotating in different directions, mostly making use of lower and base stances that used her hands, knees, elbows, feet, tail and other parts of her body to support and balance her.

Every movement allowed her to stay on the move with evasive manoeuvres while allowing her to reposition herself for more attacks that came from all kinds of unpredictable angles, making them all the more difficult to stop.

Each kick came out with terrifying force as they continued their ruthless barrage, one after another, which had included the usage of her tail.

Each of her kicks and tail attacks thrust through the remaining flames that covered the body of Una until they had dispersed.

Once the attacks came to an end, the body of Una was already swaying unsteadily and fell to the ground.

The transformation of Una disappeared, leaving her lying there with a blank gaze on her face.

Her eyes remained open, but they seemed to have no light or awareness in them.

She just lay there silently, covered in all of the wounds and fatigue that had built up on her body until she passed out.

Alyssia made one final movement from a lower position as she went from her knees, launching herself back into a backflip, where she caught herself on one hand that went flat on the ground.

A backward cartwheel finished her movements as she put some distance between herself and Una.

She stood looking down on her opponent for some time before dropping into a seated position and reaching inside her clothing to rummage around for one of the secure containers she had brought along with her.

Another round of chocolate-like sweets was placed in her mouth, resulting in her regaining a lot of her lost stamina within a short time once it was fully digested.

She moved her arms and legs around as if stretching out her stiff joints and the damaged parts of her body. "Wow... that was quite intense."

It honestly felt like a truly thrilling battle where she could have probably died if she were careless in the slightest.

It had truly shown her that, despite her previous thoughts about already reaching the strongest position, there was still more to the world than met the eye.

Just as she felt that she had reached the peak, there would be others who would shatter that belief.

There would always be more challenges in the world for her to experience.

It could be strong Haki users who had powerful and unique fighting techniques, or it could be special abilities that they had.

It could be just as possible that they would have very tricky Devil Fruit abilities to deal with, especially if they were awakened.

What was just as troublesome would be those who had awakened their Devil Fruit abilities, which were already powerful enough in their regular state.

Just having one of those things would provide enough fun for someone like Alyssia to let her experience them.

If they were combined in various ways, then the challenges presented by facing each one of them would be quite interesting in many ways.

Perhaps there would be additional factors included with all of them, like weapons, armour, or various forms of technology, which could contribute in various ways and make each opponent a little trickier to deal with.

The case of Una was quite rare due to the uniqueness of her, but there was no telling what kind of talents could reach such a stage even in their shorter lifespans.

There was no telling if there existed others with the capability to transcend the limitations of most living beings in various ways that allowed them to be able to reach such a stage and to still be able to display those capabilities upon running into her.

Old age was always something that would cause problems for many when it came to progressing further and putting various challenges on them for still being able to make full use of what they could once achieve.

Those who were past their prime had little room for improvement, but Una and others on the island had managed to avoid that happening to them through remaining in their youthful prime of their life.

One of Alyssia's regrets was that she would not be able to fight against someone like Whitebeard in his prime, as he could be a good example of someone who would not only have powerful Haki, but he would have his Devil Fruit added to it to make him more fearsome.

Such a thing was made possible by the waters created from Deux, but Whitebeard was already dead, and other famous figures had already died some time ago.

The only people left in the world who were more well-known for having almost everything at such a high level were Big Mom and Kaido, while the full capabilities of Blackbeard continued to remain quite vague.

Perhaps the admirals of the Marines would also serve as people who could provide her a challenge on a day if she ever had a reason to fight them.

She still had to be careful with whom she fought due to political reasons and tried not to influence things too much, but it was a shame that some strong figures grew older and sicker, resulting in them weakening a lot.
