Chapter 629 - New Challenge 22

Food and other resources would have to be secured for such a time, and developments would have to be made to sustain them.

With the knowledge that Alyssia had gained from Dr Vegapunk on Egghead Island, she had been even more proactive toward pushing for certain developments that were more suited to developing a more sustainable way of living for many people under various circumstances.

If so many were at sea for a long time, then bigger ships were needed, which had been worked on for a long time already and were awaiting deployment at the right time.

Ways of creating a form of land that could be lived on had been developed through the creation of Ness, but there had been other recent developments, such as looking into cloud technology and other alternatives.

New developments in food resources were being developed further to suit all kinds of different circumstances.

More sustainable energy sources were being researched to prepare for such a time.

With the developments of Ein that had put eyes in the sky, it made it even easier to observe the changes and to calculate many things to get a better estimate of what would happen in the future and when exactly it would begin.

With various developments and breakthroughs, it became increasingly clear why the world had reached its present state regarding the use of Sea Snails.

Many of these developments were based on ways to sustain certain aspects that people needed when they were at sea or lived near the sea.

Sea Snails often made various things a whole lot easier for many people, and they were living creatures that did not eat much, so they were very easy to make use of and maintain.

It was not that there was no other better option available when it came to developing things a certain way.

It was just that it was more practical to develop in that direction at such a time when things would be in higher demand.

Perhaps it could have been more difficult to achieve, but it was something that ended up becoming a part of the everyday life of the world that most people made use of.

Every single one of those things could be utilised if things really did end up going as badly as what Alyssia had figured out could actually happen.

Everyone would lose so much if such a thing really did happen.

Those who survived would be left with very little, and they would have to search for a place to settle down.

History would repeat itself as the remaining living people would fight over whatever land, resources and anything else that would remain.

It would truly end up becoming an apocalyptic scenario where everyone would be out for themselves.

From the things Alyssia came to know about the past that Una and Deux had already lived through, it was even more important to be prepared for such a scenario.

It was just as important for her to learn everything she could so that she could be prepared to face those kinds of difficulties.

That made it all the more important that she would have the right allies who could help her survive such a time.

It was just as important that such people would need allies just as much as she needed them.

All that she could do was to prepare in every way that she could, as she was making all kinds of developments that would aid her.

Any resource that needed to be gained would be acquired using what manpower, resources, and connections she could utilise.

Any lifeform that existed needed a way of being preserved, even if they could not be saved from what would come to pass, even if that meant getting what would be needed to make use of science to bring them back into the world from extinction one day.

Those lifeforms could be plants that could be lost only to be created in a laboratory, just as it could be an animal or one of the races that were living in the world.

That was the final contingency plan that Alyssia had should things turn out for the worst, and it was called Project Rebirth.

Project Rebirth was mainly put together for the sake of preserving everything, whether it be the knowledge of the present era, along with everything else, so that there would be hope for one day bringing everything back.

That project had been considered a lot after creating the scientific group named Creation.

Even if the worst-case scenario did not happen, there was still purpose in such a project, as it held many good qualities.

One such reason for continuing with it was that anything could happen in the world, resulting in significant losses.

A war could break out, resulting in major losses of vital resources that would be unique to that exact location, whether it would be a rare herb or something else.

A race could be wiped out one day for the smallest of reasons, leaving not a single one of their race left in the world.

Too much hunting of a certain species of animal could result in them becoming extinct, and it could be possible that such an animal could be vital for the ecosystem or for some other reason.

After the experience of fighting against Una, Alyssia had improved a lot and had come to realise that fighting against an opponent who was more experienced than herself and had matching Haki levels was difficult to overcome.

It was made even more of a trial for her when a Devil Fruit of a much higher quality was involved.

She had been able to overcome it just like other Haki masters would be able to achieve, but she could not be too complacent about being able to win that way.

There was a part of her that was holding back or treating the fight like a duel.

Those were restrictions she had placed on herself, but her opponents would not always be so willing to play by her rules.

It was possible that if she were not restricted by such an approach toward fighting others, then it would be much simpler and more efficient to end things by making use of the many things she had gained.

She could have chosen to use a weapon that would have been more deadly in her hands, but that would likely have resulted in Una using one against her in response to that.

If she tried to overcome her difficulties by taking or using something that could give her an advantage, then Una could do the same.

Those methods would be considered cheating, just as they would be for anything else she could make use of.

Among those were Sea Prism tools and weapons, which would be more effective against a Devil Fruit user.
