"There's no comparison." Jessica didn't understand. No one compared to Nefra because there's no way to compete against her. "And Nefra isn't some little girl."
"What is she? Seventeen? Eighteen? I never suspected you were an ephebophile," that's Jessica's M.O. She loved throwing big words around to make me appear as stupid as possible. "And a beauty queen at that."
The laugh came out as a bark, my entire body shaking until I almost fell out of my chair.
"That's funny to you?" her defensive response had me rolling.
"Hilarious…" Tears fell, and I wiped them away as I caught my breath. "You don't have a clue who my mate is. Let me tell you."
"What? Am I supposed to hear that she's not what I'm imagining? That she's everything you ever wanted?" I found the mocking tone unnecessary, but I'm not shocked by her reaction.
