When this base was constructed, they never considered the possibility of such a massive monster attack. That's why they deployed more combat mechs to surrounding base cities. As long as the first line of defense was maintained, headquarters wouldn't be threatened.

Despite the base's strong firepower and over 20,000 mechas, if these 120 monsters were all A-class, there'd be no need to panic. Even 1,200 monsters wouldn't be a big deal.
The automated fixed weapons in the base can cause significant damage to A-class monsters.
