Mrs. Tan was about to leave, and Shu Yu escorted her to the carriage. Just as the carriage was about to move, Shu Yu suddenly stuffed a rag doll inside.
Mrs. Tan was taken aback, "What are you doing?"
"Didn't you just say that it's fine even if you don't win the first prize, as long as you get the fourth prize? I thought you might like this, so I got it for you. It doesn't cost much, just keep it."
The fourth prize was either a piece of cloth or a rag doll.
The Tan Family itself runs a cloth shop, so what kind of cloth don't they have? Clearly, what Mrs. Tan wanted was the rag doll.
She looked down at the large sunflower rag doll in her hands and couldn't help but laugh. She had just made a casual remark, though she did indeed want it. She hadn't expected Shu Yu to take it so seriously and with such thoughtfulness.
Even though the rag doll wasn't worth much, the thoughtfulness behind it touched Mrs. Tan deeply.
