Chapter 19 - Thirteen - School = Chaos

Haedam Arts & International Academy (해담 국제예술학교)

"Haedam" = to embrace the sea → vast, elite, quiet prestige

Haedam Arts & International Academy (해담 국제예술학교) — Morning

The gates opened like they always did.

Quietly.

Elegantly.

Like chaos didn't exist.

That illusion lasted exactly twelve seconds.

"THEY'RE HERE—!"

Phones shot up.

Voices layered over each other.

Students flooded toward the entrance despite security already forming a barrier line.

Haedam prided itself on discipline.

But discipline bends when LUCENT and REBUS walk through the same gate

The black van rolled to a smooth stop.

The door slid open.

Jeremy stepped out first—

"Ah, fresh chaos."

The scream that followed nearly drowned him out.

Gage stepped out behind him, adjusting his sleeve like he hadn't just stepped into a storm of cameras.

Jayden followed—immediately scanning for danger.

Or worse.

Fans.

Or worse.

Hannah.

Target Acquired

"JAYDEN!!"

He froze.

"…I knew it."

Across the crowd, Hannah was already waving like she was trying to guide a plane to land.

"YOU'RE BACK!!"

Na Yoon covered her face.

"Why is she like this at 8 a.m?"

Shantel sighed softly.

"At least she's consistent."

The energy shifted.

Not louder.

Sharper.

Romeo stepped out.

Composed.

Untouched by the chaos around him.

Cameras flashed harder.

Bo Ra appeared like she had been summoned by fate itself.

"Romeo!"

She pushed forward—just enough to be seen, not enough to be stopped.

"You slept well? You looked tired yesterday!"

Jeremy whispered, "She studied his sleep schedule."

Gage muttered, "That's terrifying."

Romeo nodded politely.

"I'm fine."

Bo Ra smiled like she'd just been proposed to.

Dain stepped out next, headphones resting around his neck, eyes calm but distant.

Ashe followed—

Scrolling his phone.

Thumb paused.

A message.

Madigan: You're at school already?

He didn't reply immediately.

Not here.

Not now.

He slipped the phone away.

She stood where the noise softened.

Not too far.

Not too close.

Perfect distance to see everything.

To feel nothing.

To feel too much.

Her gaze locked onto Ashe instantly.

There he was.

Laughing lightly at something Jeremy said.

Then—

Shantel spoke.

Ashe turned.

That smile again.

That one.

Madigan's fingers tightened slightly in her coat pocket.

Not anger.

Not jealousy.

Something quieter.

More precise.

He looks comfortable.

That was the problem.

Not guilty.

Not careful.

Comfortable.

She exhaled slowly.

"…Of course."

Shantel adjusted her bag strap slightly as they moved.

She could feel it again.

That attention.

Not from fans.

From within.

Something off.

She glanced at Ashe.

Normal.

Talking.

Relaxed.

Nothing unusual.

But she remembered what she'd heard.

From Jeremy.

From Gage.

From careless jokes whispered like secrets.

"Ashe's got someone."

She'd never seen her.

Never met her.

But now—

she looked out beyond the crowd.

And for a brief moment—

their eyes almost aligned.

Shantel blinked.

The girl was gone.

"…Strange."

Hannah had somehow made it past the second line of students.

"Jayden! I made cookies again!"

Jayden physically recoiled.

"…Again?"

"They're better this time!"

"…Define better."

"I didn't burn all of them!"

"…That's not reassuring."

Jeremy leaned in.

"Take one. For survival."

Jayden accepted a cookie like it was a contract.

Bo Ra walked slightly ahead now.

Not officially leading.

But behaving like she did.

Her eyes stayed on Romeo.

Tracking.

Measuring.

Calculating.

Behind her—

Lumi hovered faintly invisible.

Quiet.

Watching.

Waiting.

As they entered the building—

the noise dulled.

Not gone.

But controlled.

Haedam's interior demanded order.

High ceilings.

Polished floors.

Glass walls reflecting status and expectation.

Even chaos had to behave here.

Whispers followed them:

"LUCENT looks even better in person…"

"REBUS is insane today…"

"Did you see Romeo?"

"Shantel's visuals are crazy…"

"Jayden looks scared—why does he look scared?"

"Because Hannah is here."

---

Madigan didn't follow immediately.

She waited.

Until the crowd thinned.

Until the noise softened.

Until she could breathe again.

Then she stepped inside.

Alone.

Her thoughts sharper now.

Not spiraling.

Just… aligning.

His company.

His contract.

My mother.

Three pressures.

One point.

She looked toward the hallway where they disappeared.

"…Two months."

Foreshadow — The Invisible Lines

Inside Haedam now existed:

A hidden relationship (Madigan ↔ Ashe)

A quiet observer (Shantel)

A blind center (Ashe)

A forceful pursuer (Bo Ra)

A silent resistor (Lumi)

And somewhere outside all of it—

A girl who didn't even attend school.

Cami.

Who, when she enters this world—

won't play by any of its rules.
