*Kryzen*
Everything hurt.
Even before I fully regained consciousness, that much was clear. Since I was feeling pain, I wasn’t dead, which was a good thing.
It even kind of hurt to breathe. I opened my eyes and shifted slightly beneath the thin sheet I was lying beneath.
The ceiling above me appeared to be painted black. It most definitely wasn’t the pale blue of the one back at the palace.
That was when the memories came rushing back. I sat up abruptly, immediately regretting it when pain shot through my shoulder. I cursed, the sound strangled and thick with sleep.
“Kryzen!”
The pain almost completely dissipated when warm, familiar hands landed on my arm. Briella’s vibrant green eyes were looking into mine. Concern was etched all over her gorgeous features.
“Briella,” I breathed. Ignoring the searing burn in my shoulder, I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her tightly to me. The relief I felt was nearly making me dizzy as I pressed my face into her neck, breathing her in.
