Following the map in the information packet, Max left the mountain his villa was on. His destination—Trade Mountain.
Normally, he should have gone to the Talisman Hall's Resource Hall since selling the talisman there would be easier and hassle free compared to selling it at the trade mountain, he chose not to because he knew the Grimheart Faction's people would be there too and when they saw him, they would make it impossible for him to sell anything.
Since he wasn't in condition to retaliate yet, he could only try his best to avoid them. Thus, he chose the Trade Mountain.
He, of course, was aware that he would find Grimheart Faction's people in the trade mountain too, but he wasn't worried because the trade mountain was an unofficial gathering of people who wanted to buy and sell things.
A seller would be there one day, and might not appear ever again. The same was true for the buyers. Moreover, everyone wore masks to conceal their identity.
