His expression dark, he quickly regained his balance while trying not to throw up blood and got ready to defend against Max's follow up strikes.
To his surprise, however, none came.
When he saw Max had vanished into the distance, his expression became incomparably ugly.
He didn't rush to chase him, however, and instead waited in place.
A short while later…

His two companions arrived. Seeing the corpses of the dark beasts, their expressions hardened because they could tell Patriarch Mi hadn't killed them because if he had, their heads would have been smashed.
"...Did the boy kill them, Patriarch Mi?" One of them asked.
Patriarch Mi frowned in impatience but since he needed their help, he responded, "Yes. He is unexpectedly quite strong."
