Ren frowned. "You mean... my [Monocle of a Tinker]?"
It had been Hubert's gift to him after he rescued the gnome. Ren only had one, and he doubted Hubert would simply hand him another. As far as he knew, the item wasn't even available on the market yet.
Ren took a slow breath and weighed his options.
At the moment, the trinket was useless to him.
But only at the moment.
In the future, he might need it—and if Hubert refused to part with another one, then losing it now could come back to haunt him. Among the miscellaneous treasures stored in his inventory, the [Monocle of a Tinker] was one of the few items he actually considered valuable.
Still, he didn't have much of a choice.
Compared to handing over Pii, surrendering the monocle was the lesser evil.
So Ren accepted the bargain.
Viscendra's smile turned almost sweet as she took the toll.
