Ren returned to the Yil'Quessir Ayin, where he found the dark elves gathered together with Aimon, Amelia, and several of the white-elven villagers.
There, beneath the ancient monument, El'athal was finally given a proper burial.
It was a beautiful death rite.
The dark elves invoked the ancient magic of the Yil'Quessir Ayin with glowing lights, joyful dances, and songs filled with both sorrow and love. As they moved among the statues, Kail'ithal stood beside El'athal's cairn and sang a hauntingly beautiful elven hymn.
When the song ended, she placed a hand on the stone.
Everyone fell silent.
Moments passed in breathless anticipation.
Then the cairn began to tremble.
The stones shifted and rolled aside, and from the center of the grave a small green sprout pushed through the earth. Kail'ithal stepped back slowly as the sprout grew at an astonishing pace, rising higher and higher until, within minutes, it had become a vibrant young oak.
