Mark awoke to what felt like the planet itself stretching itself to the very brink of destruction, everything around him was either strewn across the floor or in the process of falling apart.
In a rare moment of clarity he sprung up from his sofa-bed and shot out of the front door in order to get to the middle of the street in order to avoid falling rubble, however as he stepped outside he stumbled at the sight that befell him.
Total and utter destruction, every house on his street had either collapsed or was on the very verge of being unrecognisable, his house had somehow managed to survive long enough to keep him alive, this brief moment of shock was enough for him to notice the sun in the sky, or more accurately, the lack of it.
At the very centre of the now grey sky, sat the newly blackened sun, the one constant in human history had somehow transformed over night.
Collapsing to the floor Mark began to shake, everything he knew had suddenly inverted on itself, he pulled his phone out of his pocket as a sense of dread began to wash over him and hesitantly clicked the power button adorning the side of his mobile, he still somehow had connection.
Rushing to the internet he began searching for any helpful or reassuring information in the middle of the desolate street, he found none.
All he could find was panicked questions plaguing online forums and less that reassuring responses to them, as colour began to drain from his face he realised that it was the beginning of the end.
And he needed to be prepared for what may be coming next.
