Chapter 120 - Alpha versus and Alpha

SCOTT'S POV

One phone call last night secured a meeting at the office today. My former assistant, Jim, was appalled to hear my voice. And so it seemed in his tone as he stutter at every word. Not too long, my phone, which I turned on after weeks of sulking, began to ring endlessly once more. I answered each and every one of them. "I am back. See you all tomorrow", I simply said.

With Ofir piggybacking invisibly over my shoulder, I arrived at the SD Enterprises Building wearing my all black suit and black tie. And today, I will remind everyone who their Alpha is. I'm never the type of person who sulk alone in a dark bedroom and cry my heart out. I don't usually drink excessively and party all night to sober up. I don't talk openly about my miseries. Keeping my emotions within me, I hide my true feelings behind my smiles, laughs and even in my straight face.

Now is a bit different.

I am angered, feeling my chest tightening constantly from an extreme desolation that I can't easily let go of. The intermittent sleep at night, the lonely mornings, and the bitterness in everything sweet. Nothing feels better anymore. No liquor could drown those empty feelings. It couldn't even make me forget the nightmares.

Her name, I don't talk of it anymore.

I didn't like the sound of it from my mouth. It all ended when she left, and there's nothing more I should do but respect that and reject the her. None of our pasts mattered now. And as I choose to move forward, I wanted to start with regaining the name I put up with.

On my way up, the lobby quieted for the prodigal son of the Devlins. I could see the lowered heads. Hear the whispers, and their held breaths at my footsteps. I headed to the executives elevator as it chimed. The doors opened at the sight of the Alpha whom I was told would replace me. It didn't surprised me at all. Knowing he imprinted on her too, Roman is the best candidate to be the Alpha of the Grayback Clan. "Devlin", he greeted me with a lopsided grin. Calm and polite, but I know, it's insincere.

"Brooke", I greeted back, with my fist crashing across his face.

And it felt so damn good. I don't know for what it was, but I think he got it coming. Above all the people I truly hate to see, Roman topped the ranks. He faced me, wiping the blood trickling out of his mouth using his thumb, placing his other hand on the elevator door before it closes. "You hit like a girl", he mocked.

"How about we try it again?", I darkened my eyes, with the rage aura smoldering on my fist. The lights flickered all together. The people around sprinted away on various directions as soon as they feel the tension between the two Alphas, while some, who were mostly humans, just went with the flow of the panicking crowd.

Roman met my glares, and started to collect his power on both of his fists. Then, without a sign, we both lunged at each other at the same time as we exchange the strongest blows and heaviest kicks, left and right. We were all around the hallway destroying the glass tables, breaking expensive paintings, punching holes on the walls and wrecking imported vases displayed around. Roman and I continued to measure each other strengths not minding what were causing. Not a single punch landed, as we both dodge in perfect timing. Roman is really a match to my strength. His agility and power complimented my rage, steaming off both of my extreme anger and deep sadness that kept for a long time.

An Alpha versus an Alpha.

We both backed away breathlessly. I loosened my necktie a bit, as he take his brown leather jacket off dropping it down the floor. "Why did you stopped searching for her? She's not coming back, won't she?", he asked gasping for air, laughing quietly as if he already knew. He stared deep into my eyes like he's reading my mind. "I see you do what you gotta do, you're something else now", he squinted his eyes not removing his gaze. "That's good for me and Diana.", he said in a serious tone. "My Luna", he mentioned the name of the person that made my heart stop. That name landed heavier than any punch. I stood frozen, softening my fists.

I only got to my senses when Roman was already a few inches from me, with his glowing fist. I shielded my body with my arms as he land a punch. Surprisingly, Roman was kicked away to the other end of the hallway with a strong force coming from over my shoulder. I looked, and realized Ofir have covered me with his protective force field as it slowly wear off. "Don't", I warned Ofir not to interfere.

"What the fuck was that?", Roman grunted as he stood back up. "You have a bodyguard?", Roman studied my face with his mouth open. "A lythari elf, really?", he hissed. Roman then surrounded himself with his aura, and smiled foolishly as he swiftly made his way directly unto me. With my feet apart, I swiftly headed towards him as we both landed a combination of heavy blows on our bodies until we separate. He hit amazingly hard. It's good that he isn't holding back, like he is giving his full force to fight me. Something we both wanted to do in a long time.

When we were about to come at each other again, someone had the courage to break us off. "Stop, you two!!", Reina said as she stood between me and Roman. The only person in the clamoring crowd who had the wit to break us apart. "This is not a good place to fight. There are humans here", she fearlessly glowered at the both of us.

"He started it", Roman replied in short quick breaths as he lick his lips.

"He deserve it", I said as I swept my hair back.

"Mr. Brooke, please. Leave.", Reina glared at him. "You're done here minutes ago", she added.

Roman scoffed as he pick up his rugged brown leather jacket. He never removed his gaze at me as he walk out. "We're not done yet", he uttered.

"Tell me when and where".

He turned back and said, "How about the next full moon?". I know exactly what he meant. When that plate of a moon is high, my blood thirsts would lead me all the way to... her.

I heard Reina sighed in relief and ordered a few people to clean up the mess we made from the brawl. "You shouldn't have fought with him. Stooping down to his level is not worth it", she said with much irritation, slipping a piece of paper in the pocket of my coat.

"Reina", setting the tone with greater dominance. "Next time, don't barge in my affairs, and do not approach me until I call you", I hissed as I enter the elevator.
