When Isiah performed his spell, a massive portion of those mages simply collapsed to the stone floor without movement. It was a terrifyingly powerful spell executed with absolute precision; the dark magic proved intensely toxic to anyone whose core functioned strictly on divine energy.
At that moment, Heigl realized that Isiah had not originally intended to slaughter the entire crowd, because if he had truly wanted them dead from the start, he would have annihilated them all instantly.
Only a few mages who had been positioned outside the narrow corridor managed to survive the sweeping wave of destruction.
Isiah advanced toward the survivors right away. The remaining mages stood paralyzed, utterly terrified by him and his terrifying new abilities, completely shocked that he was even alive to begin with when the majority of them had personally witnessed him perish on that fateful night.
