Neveah didn't catch the first sight of dragon keep. Somewhere during the flight, the exhaustion from the magic she'd expended on the portal finally kicked in.
Reasonably, Jian and Xenon had anticipated it and decided on much the same arrangement as Kaideon. With Jian on the dragon back, steadying Neveah, it wasn't long before she drifted off to sleep.
And by the time she woke up, she was greeted by that icy chill that was characteristic of the first level. A quick glance at her surroundings through groggy eyes confirmed her suspicions.
She was home. Back to the dragon keep where it all began. Where she'd first learned to be something other than what Lothaire had crafted her to be.
How long had she slept for? The answer to that didn't come as easily from a glance around.
