The Bodhi Dharma Wheel sensed the arrival of Ben Kong and the others, its aura faintly revealed, shining with anticipating, greedy, bloodthirsty streams of black and red spiritual radiance.
"Amitabha!"
Ben Kong joined his palms, intoned the Buddha's name aloud, sat cross-legged and began reciting the Ten Thousand Buddhas Sutra.
The other High Monks did likewise, their voices measured and powerful, chanting scriptures from every sect, weaving them into the Bodhi Dharma Wheel.
The eerie black-red glow slowly extinguished, transforming into golden Buddhist light, which condensed into a half-real, half-illusory Buddha image, a full sixteen feet tall.
The statue bore a compassionate and dignified countenance, posture solemn and grave, its eyes gazing benevolently down upon all beings.
