Shoo… shoo…
A short, sharp whistle pierced the air. In the herd of horses drinking and grazing by the distant puddles, a black horse tapped the ground with its forehooves, neighed once, and shot forward.
Ye Wan vaulted onto the horse and galloped away.
As she swept past Yi Yi, she leaned down, scooped her up, and settled her onto the saddle.
"Mama, Mama…"
Even curled in Ye Wan's arms, with the black horse racing toward Rui Xi at full speed, Yi Yi's little face was still flushed red as she shouted loudly.
Rui Xi heard her.
The white horse was flying.
The world around was roaring.
But from the moment Yi Yi first opened her mouth, it was as if Rui Xi suddenly couldn't hear anything else.
She heard that sharp "Mama" from Yi Yi.
She also heard her helpless "Auntie, save Mama."
And she heard her call out "Mama" urgently, over and over again.
