In the dark of night with no lanterns or lights, Bil shoveled away at the hillsides.
He still had his headwrap off, enjoying the time to relax without anyone nearby. Also, Bil smiled while restoring the hill he just dug up, covering up the debris of a destroyed wooden building.
"... Finally. It should be somewhere near here," Bil sighed and patted down the dirt.
Despite his nonstop activity through the night, Bil was far calmer than most of Frantoch.
Mediations managed to delay all attacks and maneuvers for an entire day. But the battle was still inevitable. And the Frantoch forces made sure they were prepared for the coming dawn.
Lit torches lined the walls, troops were stationed atop each platform, and stashes of arrows or other ranged weapons were spread out among all the troops. Thanks to Feerah, Zac, and most of Frantoch's leaders remaining level-headed and not causing a scene, their troops felt the same way.
