Valus let go of Alan's head, allowing the boy to raise his head from the ground. Coughing out dust and stone. Alan took a deep breath and used his hands to support his body.
"Are you going to tell me, or not?"
He turned to look at Valus, with not a shred of fear or hesitation in his eyes. Valus's expression stiffened, and a tide of darkness came to block Alan's mouth. A tendril rose, grabbing his leg and slamming him into the Light house once more.
