"What are you doing up so late at night, not sleeping?" The man had a hint of a smile on his lips.
There was obvious helplessness in his smile, as he got out of bed and walked over, intending to help her up.
Fiona Schmidt awkwardly leapt up from the ground, with a couple of dry chuckles, "I... just wanted to see if you were asleep. Who knew your door wasn't closed properly, so I..."
Her face was flushed, feeling utterly embarrassed.
"Were you planning to peek?" The man crossed his arms and stood in front of her, looking down at her.
"No!" Fiona shook her head repeatedly, denying vehemently. She had no interest in peeking. She was just eavesdropping.
"Really?" Norton Abyss leaned forward, and as the distance closed, she felt even more guilty. She clutched her wildly beating chest and took a step back.
With a stammering voice, she said, "I really wasn't peeking!"
After shouting that, she turned around and ran back to her room in a hurry.
