"The DNA test report is still with Manson. The soonest he can send it over is tomorrow. Of course, if you don't believe me, you can have it tested again yourself."
Bertha Haines looked into Amos Smith's eyes and inexplicably believed his words.
However, her mind was a mess now, her heart too. Clare Lewis was dead, and the confidant he left behind was not loyal to her. If she wanted to understand the truth of the matter, it seemed she could only wait until her memory returned.
"Why that expression? Are you disappointed you couldn't give him a child?"
Facing Amos Smith's sarcastic comment, Bertha merely glared at him without making any rebuttal.
When you find out that the child you raised isn't your biological offspring, it's hard for anyone to accept.
"About this matter," Bertha listened to the sounds inside the house, fearing their conversation would be overheard by the children, so she pleaded with Amos, "I hope you can keep this secret for me."
