Bertha met with Cleveland in private, and when discussing the future of the two elderly people, Cleveland hesitated, clearly siding with his son, and even said that the mother was making a fuss. The money wasn't given for nothing; once they had money, it would definitely be returned to her.
"Was an IOU written?"
Bertha asked knowingly, thinking to herself that even she could misjudge someone. When she first met Cleveland, she thought he seemed pretty decent.
"We were going to write one at the beginning, but your mother didn't want it."
Bertha let out a cold laugh, looking at the other person's guilty face, she had already made her decision.
"Then let's make up for it now. Call your son and have him write an IOU for my mom."
Eight hundred thousand; that's not a small amount. After some hesitation, Montague suggested.
"Let me discuss this with your mom instead."
