The battle did not end all at once. It dragged on in uneven waves as the remaining beasts continued their assault. Even though their numbers steadily thinned with each passing moment.
Then, after some time had passed, what had once been a relentless tide became scattered clashes across the ruined city.
Guards who had been forced into defensive desperation began pushing forward cautiously. Their strikes grew more confident as the pressure eased further.
The ground still trembled with distant impacts, but the overwhelming chaos that had threatened to consume them slowly lost its force.
One by one, the beasts fell and died.
Some were cut down by blades and spells above while others vanished beneath the shifting sands, dragged away before they could even reach their targets.
The rhythm of battle changed from survival to control, and eventually, the last of the rampaging creatures either collapsed where they stood or disappeared entirely.
