Compound V… actually gives people superpowers.
And even worse—Vought had been injecting it into newborn babies.
In other words, almost every superhero people saw on screen… was a lab experiment.
When the video ended, the audience outside the glowing screen was stunned once again.
The sheer weight of this revelation was overwhelming. Compound V wasn't just powerful—it was an earth-shattering secret capable of bringing down both Vought and the entire Seven.
For years, Vought's marketing machine had preached that superheroes were born, not made—gifts from God, divine protectors of the weak, champions of truth and justice.
But now, that illusion had shattered. It had all been a lie. Vought had created these so-called heroes in labs, packaging them as celebrities to rake in profit, manipulate public opinion, and even aim for political control.
Billy Butcher grinned.
"Excellent. Absolutely bloody fantastic. I love this Quiz game—it's exposing everything. Now the whole damn world sees what Vought and the Seven really are!"
Annie, however, looked shaken. The truth had shattered her worldview once again.
She had been raised by her mother on Vought's "chosen one" ideology—taught that becoming a superhero was her destiny, that she was born to save the world.
Now she realized she'd been nothing more than an unwitting lab rat.
"My god… this is insane…" Annie held her head in her hands, struggling to take it all in.
Hughie tried to comfort her.
"It's not your fault. None of us knew. Vought is the one pulling the strings."
Stephen Strange tilted his head, curious.
"Homelander seems… different, though. Special?"
In the earlier footage, MM had pointed out that Homelander's background was a black hole. No records. No past. It was as if he'd just popped out of a rock one day.
Deadpool couldn't help but chime in.
"Maybe he's like Superman? An alien from another planet?"
Thor, seeing Billy's smug grin, couldn't resist throwing cold water on it.
"Don't celebrate too early, mate. With this much dirt exposed, Vought and Homelander are bound to be furious. They're not going to let this go. When this game ends, you'd better watch your back."
Billy's smile faded, replaced by a grim expression.
"Let them come. Even if I die, I'm taking a chunk of them down with me. Besides, I'm guessing they've got their hands full right about now."
As they spoke, the glowing screen presented a new question:
[Homelander had a son with the wife of which of the following?]
[A: Billy Butcher
B: Black Noir
C: Stan Edgar
D: Translucent]
Crack.
Billy's jaw tightened, eyes going wide. It sounded like he might actually grind his teeth into dust. Whatever good mood he'd been in was gone.
Deadpool immediately noticed the change and burst out laughing.
"Oh-ho, this is juicy! So Homelander's got a thing for other people's wives? That's twisted.
Hey, Billy, buddy… your reaction's a little too loud. Don't tell me it was your wife?"
"Shut your damn mouth, you freak!" Billy exploded, eyes blazing with rage. He looked ready to kill.
Naturally, Deadpool only leaned in further.
"Aw, don't be like that. Come on, let's talk about it. Look, I apologize, alright? Really, I mean it—ahahahaha!"
His gleeful laughter sent shivers down everyone's spine. Billy looked like he might actually erupt if not for the glowing pillar keeping them apart.
The others exchanged glances. At this point, it was obvious: Billy's reaction had basically confirmed the answer.
Back in The Boys' universe, even Homelander—who had been gradually regaining his composure—froze when he saw the question. His face twisted in confusion, then disbelief, then something much darker.
"I have a son?"
His voice was strange, uncertain. He cracked his neck, then turned and flew straight back into Vought Tower.
Inside, Madelyn and the other members of the Seven were in a state of chaos, scrambling to figure out what to do about the Compound V scandal. The exposure of the truth had sent shockwaves through the company.
The Supes couldn't accept that they'd been lab rats. Vought was facing a public relations nightmare.
Before they could come up with any solutions, Homelander flew through the broken window like a missile. His face was expressionless and icy.
"Everyone except Madelyn—out."
His eyes scanned the room with threatening intensity. Everyone understood immediately and made themselves scarce. They all wanted the gossip, of course—but they knew the screen would reveal the truth soon enough.
Back in the Eternal Space, the question's countdown had begun.
Based on Billy's explosive reaction, most players had a good guess at the answer. Though many felt sorry for him, no one wanted to miss out on the 4-point bonus. They rushed to hit the buzzer.
The lucky one this time was Hughie Campbell. He gave Billy a quick, apologetic look, then selected A.
Billy's face was like thunder. Furious and silent, he picked the same answer with clenched fists.
Everyone else followed suit.
When the timer hit zero, the correct answer appeared, just as expected.
[Congratulations to Player Hughie Campbell for answering correctly and earning 4 points]
[Player Thor Odinson, player Wade Wilson, Player Stephen Strange, Player Annie January and Player Billy Butcher also answered correctly and receive 1 point each]
Hughie winced.
"Uh… sorry, Butcher. Do you… do you know what happened?"
Billy's voice was ice cold, words squeezed through clenched teeth.
"I'm going to kill Homelander. I swear to God, I will kill him."
He turned and stared at the screen like he wanted to burn through it.
The answer video began.
On screen, a man and a woman were shown in an intimate moment. The man was a younger, cleaner version of Billy Butcher—no scruffy beard or bloodshot eyes. He looked… happy. With him was a beautiful woman—Becca Butcher, his wife.
The two of them were very much in love.
