Wade took on some truly bizarre jobs from time to time.
Whether it was teaching a sleazy ex-boyfriend a lesson on behalf of a teenage girl, or helping someone dig up evidence of a cheating partner, he approached life with a carefree, jokey attitude—a true goofball with a heart.
It was during one of those gigs, at a bar, that he met the love of his life: Vanessa.
Vanessa had a rough background—a broken home and a life that had forced her into sex work just to survive. But in that moment, when their eyes met, something clicked between them.
Watching this scene unfold in the video, Stephen couldn't help but sigh softly.
"Love really does show up when you least expect it."
Deadpool, uncharacteristically quiet, stared at the screen in a daze. He murmured,
"Vanessa… she was a great girl. The best I ever met. If only life could've frozen right then and there…"
Strange glanced sideways at him.
"Well, what do you know—you actually have a serious side."
Thor chimed in, dripping sarcasm,
"I'll admit, I'm shocked any woman could fall for you."
Deadpool grinned. "You'll find out why in a minute, big guy. Try not to get jealous!"
Onscreen, Wade and Vanessa began their life together—a shameless, uninhibited romance that had Annie blushing, and left Thor and Hughie completely stunned.
Deadpool threw his hands on his hips and laughed out loud.
"See that? That's what being a real man looks like!"
Stephen groaned, rubbing his temples.
"God help us. Let's just hope kids watching this don't take notes…"
Unfortunately, the happy life didn't last long.
Out of nowhere, Wade—who had always seemed perfectly healthy—was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It hit like a death sentence.
Vanessa was devastated, but she stood by him, constantly encouraging him, unwilling to let go of the man she loved.
Wade loved her just as deeply—but he knew he had to leave.
He couldn't bear to let her watch him waste away, or worse, become a burden. He couldn't go back to the life they had.
Outside the screen, Strange asked curiously,
"So… did you use your powers to cure the cancer?"
Deadpool shrugged.
"Let's just say, the cure was worse than the disease."
Thor eyed his face.
"Let me guess—the side effect was this?"
"Ding ding. Correct answer," Deadpool replied, his tone dropping.
"That's the price I paid. Pretty steep, huh?"
After being disfigured, Wade often thought about Vanessa—but couldn't bring himself to see her again.
Back in the video, a drunken Wade was approached in a bar by a mysterious man in a suit. The stranger claimed he could not only cure Wade's cancer, but also give him extraordinary powers.
Wade took the business card but didn't buy into it.
Later that night, after one final intimate moment with Vanessa, he made up his mind.
'The worst part about cancer isn't what it does to you. It's what it does to the people you love. Who knows if that guy can really save me? But I do know this—she deserves a better life.
This is the only way. Isn't that what heroes are supposed to do?'
For once, his inner voice was solemn, sincere—and it tugged at the heart.
Annie was visibly moved.
"Honestly? Compared to guys like Homelander… you're the real superhero."
Deadpool laughed heartily, pointing to her with a dramatic flourish.
"Girl, if you fall for me, I hope it's because of my rugged charm!"
Then he thrust his hips inappropriately.
Annie's face went stiff.
Just when she thought she could start respecting this lunatic, he ruins it.
Thor sighed.
"Buddy… if you talked less, we might actually be friends."
Deadpool giggled.
"Really? Then can I borrow your hammer? I promise not to break it!"
Thor shrugged.
"Sure—if you can even lift it."
Deadpool grinned wickedly.
"Only if I become your girlfriend, right? I know what I have to do!"
He puckered his lips and wiggled his eyebrows. Thor looked like he was about to vomit.
'Logan was right,' Thor thought.
'Someone really needs to sew this guy's mouth shut.'
Back in the video, Wade finally contacted the man from the bar. He was soon taken to a grim, filthy laboratory—a place that resembled a slaughterhouse more than a medical facility.
There, he came face-to-face with the darkest corners of the world.
Every "patient," himself included, was nothing more than a disposable lab rat.
They were tied to beds, helpless, and subjected to brutal experimentation.
The lab had a method to forcibly push the human body to its absolute limits, triggering mutations and awakening superpowers.
But the process was inhumane—borderline torture.
To get results, they had to break people—over and over again.
Wade endured every kind of suffering imaginable. It was a hellish trial of pain.
And in the end, it either worked… or you died.
The one running the experiments was a man who called himself Ajax.
He claimed to have gone through the mutation process successfully—but at the cost of losing all sensation, including the ability to feel pain.
During the torture sessions, Wade responded the only way he knew how—with jokes, taunts, and relentless sarcasm.
It was his coping mechanism.
He found out Ajax's real name was Francis, and took great pleasure in using it to annoy him.
That rebellion had consequences.
Francis eventually threw Wade into a sealed coffin-like chamber, draining it of oxygen until Wade was nearly dead—then flooding it back in just enough to keep him alive.
The process repeated. Again. And again. And again.
It was psychological and physical torment of the highest order.
This was where Wade's body—and face—were utterly destroyed.
Not just his face, either.
His skin turned into a horror show—like the backside of a durian, mangled and cratered beyond recognition.
It was only thanks to Wade's warped sense of humor and iron will that he didn't lose his mind completely.
Back in the Eternal Space, everyone watching him now saw Deadpool in a new light.
Deadpool raised his hands theatrically.
"Hey, come on! I deserve a round of applause here! You have any idea how hard it was to survive that?! Actually, forget it. Just thank Francis. Really—I'm gonna make sure he knows how much I appreciate him!"
Billy Butcher smirked.
"Your mouth's annoying as hell, but I'll admit it—you're a real tough bastard. You were a lab rat, same as Homelander or A-Train… but you've got ten times the guts those cockheads ever had."
