Angus looked at Double Leaf with relief, and said softly, "You must know, my child, that there are only two reasons for the destruction of Dragonkin's Pride. First, the dragons were unwilling to let their dwelling become a province of the dynasty; second, their strength posed a threat to the dynasty, a threat that could be snuffed out."
Double Leaf remained silent because she felt that relying on 'her own' intelligence, it was difficult to be convinced by this rhetoric which was more fact than fiction.
This was not unexpected by Angus, so this lord didn't continue on this angle, but instead pragmatically changed his approach: "Perhaps I should tell you this, child, if the dynasty continues on this out-of-control path, its only end is destruction, and I don't want to be destroyed with it, nor do I want you, Philo, and your future children to be destroyed with it."
