The last student finally left at 6:04pm.
I collapsed into the chair behind the podium and just... breathed.
Lecture Hall C was quiet now. Glass walls reflecting the sunset. Everything outside was gold. The AC hummed. My smartboard was off. My tablet had 43 unread notifications and I didn't care.
Three lectures. Eighty discussion posts. One near-divine meltdown.
Done.
'You alive?' Suetekh in my head.
'Barely,' I answered. 'Where are you?'
'Faculty meeting from hell. Be there in 10.'
'Don't rush.'
'I am.'
The door opened before I could even pack my bag. Muhammad.
Of course it was Muhammad.
"Professor," he said, holding his tablet. "Just had a few follow-ups from today's lecture. And the glitch."
"Muhammad," I said, and I tried to sound tired and not annoyed. "It's 6pm."
"I know. I just..." He hesitated. "The whole building lost power. Not just us. Engineering too. Facilities said no surge, no outage on record."
"That's weird," I said.
