Chapter 7 - I know everything now

Geb woke feeling a bit uneasy. He got up from bed and quietly went to Nessy's room. Peeking inside, he saw she was still sleeping. He walked closer and noticed a drool on her left cheek and her hair completely unkempt. She looked like a baby—a cute one—with her lips slightly pouted. His own lips ached to kiss them, but he knew such a kiss would wake her. He wasn't going to give her just a peck; he didn't plan on waking her yet. First, he wanted to prepare breakfast, then draw her a bath before rousing her gently.

Now that he knew everything—how people of this generation behaved—one thing still angered him deeply: how they had forgotten the gods who kept their ancestors and lands safe. Without the gods, Egypt would have long been conquered by foreign gods, with its children enslaved or forced into lowly positions as consorts to warriors and lords from other lands. The gods of Egypt had fought for the land, protected its people, properties, and wealth. They fed on their worship, lived by their devotion, multiplied and grew strong because of them. The only way the mortals could have repaid such generosity was through service, worship, recognition, and sacrifice.

But from what Geb had seen, they had failed. The gods of Egypt were abandoned for machines, technology, artificial intelligence—creations of mere mortals. They had broken their covenant and forged new "gods" fashioned by their own wisdom, gods they deemed worthy of glory for all their accomplishments.

He cleared those thoughts from his mind and focused on the eggs and bacon before him. He wanted to prepare Nessy's favorite breakfast: egg sauce, bacon, and coffee. She must be in a lot of pain after the mind duplication. He, too, felt slight pain because duplicating her mind caused him to experience, at least partially, whatever she felt. The difference was his godly strength allowed him to subdue the pain; she, being mortal, could not.

Using Nessy's memories, he prepared the breakfast and set it on the dining table. Then he drew her a warm bath just how she liked it. When finished, he went straight to her room to wake her.

As he looked at her sleeping face, he wondered why he was doing all this for her. What had she done to him? He had never felt this way before—even with Nut. He felt he needed to protect, love, and care for her. He brushed it off as an effect of the mind duplication; he had never done it before, so perhaps that was why his whole being longed to care for her. He now knew everything she had endured and was currently enduring. She was in deep pain—a pain her wealth and status could never heal. She mourned her parents every day, missed their kisses every night, and longed for the breakfasts they shared each morning. She needed someone to love and appreciate her, but all she received was lust. That was why she had become rude and arrogant—to hide her pain.

He didn't want to touch her and risk startling her or causing discomfort, which might affect him too. Instead, he entered her mind and gently woke her from there.

Nessy blinked several times, adjusting to the light. She stretched and yawned loudly, but halfway through, she spotted Geb standing by the door and froze mid-stretch. Geb fought back laughter at her amusing pose.

"What are you doing here?" Nessy asked, embarrassment written all over her flushed face. He must have seen her yawn and stretch so openly.

Geb smiled to himself, pleased that his presence affected her. He walked closer so she could see him fully.

Immediately, she gasped. "Who said you could go through my closet? Why are you wearing my joggers and baggy shirt?"

Geb stared, incredulous. Would she rather he remain naked? Without a word, he started pulling off the clothes. Nessy was shocked—yes, she wanted him to change, but not to be naked. The shirt came off quickly, leaving only the joggers.

"Stop!" she said, cheeks burning. His bare upper body alone was making her lose her breath. "You can keep the joggers and wear the shirt. We'll get you new clothes today," she added, averting her gaze.

Geb kept smiling. He liked seeing her blush; she looked cute.

"Freshen up and come downstairs to your favorite dining spot for breakfast," Geb said, turning to leave.

"What? How did you know my favorite dining place? I eat there only with my parents, not with strangers!" she fired back.

"Oh, I beg your pardon, dear princess," Geb replied sarcastically. "I never said I was going to eat with you. I don't really eat mortal food, especially not egg sauce, bacon, and coffee—I've never tasted those before, but I think they are awful. Maybe you should reconsider your 'favorite' choices." He smirked and left before she could respond.

Nessy felt irritated. How did he know so much about her? And why did she feel he was right to know? She brushed it off and checked her phone. She was almost late but didn't care. Besides, she was the boss.

She sluggishly went to the bathroom to freshen up. The bath was already drawn—she knew it was Geb's doing. But how did he know all this? Her favorite breakfast, her bath preferences, even the way to her room? The mansion was huge; any newcomer would get lost without help.

She had completely forgotten last night. Her mind was too weak to hold the details. Even if she remembered, there was nothing she could do to reverse what had happened—the deed was done.

After her bath, she dressed and applied light makeup. She went downstairs to the dining room. When she saw the food, her mouth watered. She hadn't eaten dinner and was famished.

She sat and began eating, moaning softly at each bite. 'This is so good,' she thought, unaware that Geb was standing by the door with his arms crossed, studying her with a slight smile. He was fulfilled that she liked the meal and truly happy.

After eating, Nessy wiped her mouth and stood up. She noticed Geb and said firmly, "Are you ready? Because we leave now."

"Of course I am," Geb replied, flashing a smile that only seemed to irritate her.

"Shall we?" he asked, motioning toward the door…
