Chapter 176: Hidden Clan
"Madara, your back was wide open," said Raiken, grinning in a way that made it clear he had enjoyed humiliating Madara.
"Kisama (You or something like that)," said Madara, his eyes shifting back to the purple rings of his Rinegan as he turned to Raiken; at this point, he was ready to fight Raiken to the death, but Raiken stopped him.
"Save it for later," said Raiken. "We still have more important things to discuss, and I would rather not spend the next hour dodging your attack while telling you the truth.
Madara was angry at Raiken's nonchalant answer; just earlier, Raiken had humiliated him, but now he was trying to evade the fight. Fortunately, he was rational enough to listen rather than letting anger cloud him.
"Tell me everything before I kill you," threatened Madara.
Raiken just smirked before continuing to unveil the secret of a century.
"The Otsutsuki Clan is the clan that visits from one planet to another; they do not simply visit planets out of curiosity. They plant something called a Chakra seed, and eventually that seed grows and becomes a Big Tree; eventually that tree would absorb everything this planet has, every living thing, every source of energy, until the planet itself is completely hollowed out. Everyone on it dies, and the planet becomes nothing other than desolate land."
Madara tilted his head slowly; the shock on his face was visible even to Raiken.
"Wait," said Madara. "What?"
"You heard me correctly," replied Raiken. Then he turned his head toward the shadow where Black Zetsu had been hiding throughout the entire conversation. "Black Zetsu, come out. You have been hiding there since we started the conversation and don't even think to escape because I can locate you easily regardless of whether you reveal yourself, so you may as well make this easier for everyone."
Silence followed a second later, then Black Zetsu slowly materialized from the shadows, the darkness peeling away as he stepped forward, revealing himself in front of Raiken and Madara.
"How do you know about my mother?" asked Black Zetsu.
"Does it matter how I know?" replied Raiken.
"Yes," said Black Zetsu.
"No," said Raiken. "What matters is what I know and what I am offering; now answer my question. What did your mother tell you about her clan?"
Black Zetsu was quiet for a moment; when he was being birthed, he didn't know anything except what his mother had told him.
"I only know what she told me before she was sealed," Black Zetsu finally said. "She spoke of her clan and of what they had done to her, but what you just said is something new even for me. White Zetsu is her army, preparing for the future war against the Otsutsuki Clan. She prepared for the possibility of war against other Otsutsuki if they ever came. Still, the details of their current movements, their numbers, their plans, those things were never relayed to me.
Madara, who had been listening to the exchange with his arms still crossed and his expression growing darker with each passing sentence, spoke without looking away from Black Zetsu.
"So everything you told me," said Madara, his voice growing serious and his expression darkening with anger. "was shaped by a lie; you are not my will?"
Black Zetsu said nothing, which was itself an answer.
The muscle along the side of Madara's jaw tightened once, then released.

"As expected from Kaguya," said Raiken, his tone carrying something between acknowledgment and mild admiration for its thoroughness. "She gave you exactly enough to keep you moving in the direction she needed without giving you anything that would have let you deviate from the plan."
He turned back to Madara.
"Now," said Raiken, "let us talk about the real subject, the Otsutsuki Clan as they actually exist and are being confirmed by Black Zetsu."
Madara looked at him deeply.
"Tell me everything you know about them," said Madara.
"That," said Raiken, "is exactly what I came here to do. I came here to tell you about the Otsutsuki Clan and why your idea for Eternal Tsukuyomi is stupid."
"Tschh," Madara was really angry, but he didn't stop Raiken.
"This Earth is not the only planet that the Otsutsuki Clan has visited; there are many planets that have been sucked dry, and the people living on those planets are dead. But our grandmother Kaguya Otsutsuki fell in love with our great-great-grandfather, and they had two children named Hagoromo and Hamura," said Raiken.
"I don't want to hear about other people's love stories," interrupted Madara.
"Ok, fine, I will only tell you about the Otsutsuki Clan. One of them is thought to be dead, but he is actually still alive, and it was almost impossible to find him. The other Otsutsuki is named Isshiki, and he had been hiding for a century, ready to strike back when he got a better body." Raiken had no intention of hiding the other Otsutsuki clan, especially in front of Madara.
"In 30 to 50 years, they would come, and the first invasion would happen." Raiken's face became serious.
"How do you know they would come in 50 years?" asked Madara.
'Well, I cannot tell him that this is a manga world and I have read the Boruto manga,' Raiken thought, his face growing more serious. "Through reading and studying history."
Although the answer was cliché, it worked against Madara, because he did the same in the past. He would travel to other continents to seek knowledge and strengthen himself.
So Raiken doing exactly what he did in the past is plausible enough.
