“I think the almost-beating I gave him in his cell actually knocked some sense into him,” Leo was saying as he moved around our bedroom to get ready for the day.
I offered him a small grin each time he glanced my way. I was still in bed since it was extremely early. The sun wasn’t even up yet but Leo was taking his role as Darion’s mentor even more seriously since bailing him out.
“I’m glad things are going a lot better,” I said, trying to sound as enthusiastic as Leo sounded.
If I was being completely honest though, I was still very suspicious of Darion. I wasn’t happy that he got out with essentially a slap on the wrist. He was a danger to everyone around him. This time, he didn’t just put Amara in danger, he put everyone on the road in danger for drinking and driving.
He didn’t deserve another chance in my opinion. He was already given more than the average person should be.
