I shifted my slitted gaze to Bianca but my expression softened immediately when she returned my stare evenly.
I averted my eyes and lowered myself onto the edge of the bed so that I could put on my shoes. I was even aware that my movements were jerky and annoyed. Perhaps I was acting like an adolescent but I didn’t really care at the moment.
I had a terrible time sleeping the night before and I couldn’t help but blame Darion. I was still plagued by nightmares of what would have happened if Bianca hadn’t gotten out of that situation the other day unscathed.
It had been my sole goal for months now to keep Bianca safe and away from the Angels and that had all gone out the window because of Darion’s reckless, idiotic stunt.
