The forecast predicted a overcast day with light rain, and looking out at the dreary sky made Belle feel unaccountably melancholy. There was a distinct possibility that afternoon or evening flights would be grounded if the weather deteriorated further.
"You're heading to the airport to see Karis off later, right?" Eli inquired. His focus was actually on the chess match playing out between Andrei and Neon; he was busy guiding the kids through the game while Belle folded laundry in the living room.
In the past, she would have hidden away in her bedroom to handle this chore. Now, however, the awkwardness had vanished. She had grown so accustomed to his presence that having him around didn't phase her at all. Eli was equally comfortable; in fact, he found a sense of peace in being there, teaching the children while Belle tended to the household.
"I'll call her in a bit to see if her flight schedule has changed," she replied.
"Are you taking Neon along?"
