Chapter 575 - Log of Abilities and Techniques

Spirit Energy: A type of intangible energy that emanates from one's soul. All Spirit Energy from all beings is essentially the same, with the only difference being the 'taste'. All living races also have the same level of Spirit Energy within the race in terms of amount. Spirit Energy, on a baseline level, increases the strength of the body when it passes through it, and also improves recovery. Spirit Energy flows most efficiently through organic things, yet certain materials can bypass this. Spirit Energy can also be used unconsciously, but to bring out its full potential, Spirit Arts are needed.

Hostile Spirit Energy from two different sources poured into the same vessel will try to force each other out, causing a little explosion. This is known as the rejection principle. If the Spirit energy isn't hostile, they will both coexist in the same vessel.

Spirit Arts: The formalised name of the process that involves manipulating and maximising its capabilities. The three pillars of Spirit Arts Control, Output and Quality.

Quality: Is an individual strength of one's Spirit Energy, which is derived through their willpower or 'faith'. The stronger the willpower is, the greater the quality of their Spirit Energy is. A single unit of someone with high-quality Spirit Energy could be worth multiple people's entire capacity of Spirit Energy.

Control: Is an individual's ability to control and manipulate their Spirit Energy. When one first discovers Spirit Energy, they can only use it to circulate their entire bodies, but through gaining greater control, they can send it to specific parts of their body, maximising individual abilities efficiently, which is commonly known as Full Force Spirit Arts.

Output: The maximum amount of spirit energy one can unleash in a single attack. This is one of the hardest limits set on the use of spirit energy that can usually only be overcome with a Regalia or Holistic Battle Arts. Yet if someone constantly trains on releasing as much spirit energy as possible, they can increase their maximum output.

Advancement: As everyone has the same levels of Spirit Energy, they have the same activation length of Spirit Arts. If two people with different qualities of Spirit Energy were to see how long they could both last using it, their times would be the same, as they burn the same units per second, despite the difference in power. To circumvent this, one must learn to increase the quality of their Spirit Energy, then learn how to keep dividing their single units of Spirit Energy into smaller and smaller forms until they can accurately only use as much Spirit Energy as it takes to defeat their foes, increasing their activation time.

Regalia: After one's trains, their spirit to greater heights, a Regalia will manifest. A special spiritual ability usable by consuming spirit energy, derived from the very soul of its user.

Curses: A curse is some alteration of the soul that has a physical effect. Small movements in the soul can imbed a small curse that can, in some cases, be removed, but large movements permanently scar the soul and change the body drastically, and one who has experienced this is known as a Nightmare. This is what's popularly known, but in actuality, the truth is different. A curse is when the soul is instructed to crystallise, turning the spiritual physical, and a Nightmare is born when over 50% of someone's soul is crystallised.

Nightmares: All Nightmares share three characteristics. First the are all imbued with a curse ability that derives itself from their physicality, while their bodies are heavily strengthened beyond what is humanly possible. Second, they lose access to Spirit Energy. Finally, their bodies degrade far more slowly than humans. Nightmares have access to an ability called Bewitchment, which is caused when they push their bodies to the limits, forcing themselves to overexert, bringing out the full abilities of their curses.

Legacy: When people who have manifested a Reglia die, their strong willpower allows them to surpass death and return to the planet in the form of a second soul in someone's body. The person who inherits the soul will gain all the physical characteristics, memories, and Regalia of whoever inhabits their body. The amount of these they get is linked to how much the Legacy cooperates with the host, but if the host takes on too much of the Legacy, they could hijack the host's body. When a host wishes to use their Legacy's Regalia, parts of the Legacy's spirit energy move to whatever area the host wishes, then becomes cursed, taking the shape of a biomechanical armament, altering the area, granting it all the benefits of being cursed along with the ability to use the Regalia as a curse ability. Each Legacy has a vessel they like to work best in when the Regalia is activated.

Advent: This releases all of the Legacy's power, transforming the body, and is triggered when the Legacy and the host are in perfect sync. When activated, an Advent Symbol that looks like a coloured upside-down odd-pentagon with a deeper version of the giving colour making an outline around it that extends at the northwestern, northeastern, and south corners, the one side of one body will be covered in a coloured radiating version of the Legacy's spirit energy, while the other is covered in the biomechanical armament.

The biomechanical armament and radiating energy continue up towards the host's face, and if the radiating spirit energy is on the left side of the host, it will create a tattoo-like design across the face, with the biomechanical armament forming a similar tattoo on the right side. If the radiating spirit energy is on the right side of the host, the face will form a mask out of the biomechanical armament with the energy radiating off of it. The clothes currently on the body will be altered a bit as well, with any other changes being personal to the individual user.

When in Advent, all of the physical and spiritual capabilities of a Legacy will be imparted onto the host, yet their given skill and understanding will determine if they are able to maximise it. The side with the radiating spirit energy is capable of using the Regalia to a greater extent, while the side with the armament is capable of using the physical capabilities to the greatest extent. When in Advent, the Legacy's abilities are also considered to be spiritual again, and are capable of interacting with spiritual creatures.

 

Battle Arts: Are different schools of combat used by people throughout the world. While most of them are recognised by Cordum, not all are. Some Battle Arts are techniques usually by anyone, while others require specific tools or to be from specific races.

Arts: A name given to derivatives of a certain Battle Arts form. Almost all of these are considered personal and are not taught in schools.

 

Helix Battle Arts: A form of combat in which the user constantly builds up spiral/rotational energy through circular movements and releases it for devastating attacks. The area of the body which releases the energy is invigorated and strengthened for a short period after

Ethos: The Ethos of this Battle Arts is to give and receive, taking everything your opponent is and countering it with everything you are, blending all aspects of the battlefield into one.

 Helix Battle Arts; Spiral: A technique in which you release the built-up spiral energy as a wave of force through whatever is struck.

Helix Battle Arts; Spiral Redirection: A technique in which, using one's spiral energy, you gently control an attack, usually a projectile, and redirect it towards its source, or simply sway it in another direction.

Helix Battle Arts; Spiral Imbuement: A technique in which you imbue the spiral energy into an object, forcing it to spin and increase its destructive force.

Helix Battle Arts; Spiral Snowboost: A technique exclusive to Orb Rian, in which he uses Spiral against his foot as well as Snowboost to lunge himself forward at high speed.

 

Gozen Battle Arts: A form of combat in which a user sends their Spirit Energy into another person, triggering a reaction from said person's Spirit Energy, causing tiny explosions as the host's Spirit Energy rejects the user. Many forms usually begin with striking your opponent to make their Spirit Energy fluctuate. Before being a school of combat, it was originally a school of medicine.

Gozen Battle Arts; Spiritual Tether: A technique in which you send Spirit Energy into a target, forcing their Spirit Energy to reject your own, making a little explosion in their body.

Gozen Battle Arts; Spirit Rehabilitation: A technique in which you send non-hostile Spirit Energy into someone's body, then imbue it with hostility, forcing the Spirit Energy of said person to react. This can be used to force the body's Spirit Energy to circulate efficiently and temporarily bring up their strength.

Gozen Battle Arts; Spirit Therapy: A technique where you force a body to circulate Spirit Energy when unconscious, which stops their soul from leaving their bodies when heavily injured.

Gozen Battle Arts; True Spiritual Tether: A technique unique to Suzuka Gozen in which she performs spiritual Tether with all of her stored Spirit Energy in her tails.

Fox Arts: A form of combat made by Suzuka Gozen that combines Gozen Battle Arts with the use of her legacy.

Fox art; Mould: Is a technique in which Suzuka moulds her tails into objects like hammers, or even giant fists.

Fox art; Breaker: Is a technique in which Suzuka densely wraps her tails around her arms or legs, making them many times stronger.

Fox art; Spiritual Tether: Is a technique where Suzuka sends a great amount of Spirit Energy into another being and uses it to destroy them from the inside out. It does not work on beings covered in their own Spirit Energy.

 

Four Beasts Battle Arts: A form of combat specialised in hunting Wonderbeasts. The user trains their instincts till they manifest a sixth sense that is even greater than a Wonderbeast's instincts. There is a saying in Molstoria that a master of Four Beasts Battle Arts will always kill their opponents in battle; it is simply the only way they can fight.

Ethos: To understands ones place as the apex predator in nature, and sharpen the instincts within oneself till they can understand, and hunt their target efficiently.

Four Beasts Battle Arts; Predatory Fang: A technique in which the users look for a point in which the skin and muscles are relaxed to cut straight through to the bone of the target.

Four Beasts Battle Arts; Stalking Fang: A technique in which the user minimises all bodily functions, which erases their presence, then uses Spirit Energy to move their relaxed body through extreme concentration.

Four Beasts Battle Arts; Sky Fang: A technique in which the user uses the slight imperfections within any surface to stand against them, almost as if we are stuck to them.

Four Beasts Battle Arts; Condor's Paradise: A technique focuses their sense to account for all hostility in the area, before striking it all in one powerful swing that forces the strikes to scatter like feathers.

Four Beasts Battle Arts; Serpent's Fang: A technique in which the user controls all aspects of their bodies and movement, combining them with a manipulation of the way the sun hits their blade, making their movements near unreadable till the blade is about to strike.

Four Beasts Battle Arts Ultimate Art; Four Beasts Vitality: A technique that grants the user full control over their muscles, allowing them not only to control the inner workings of their bodies, such as closing up wounds and dilating blood vessels, but also turning off any restraints on their physical output. 

 

Red Branch Battle Arts: A form of combat that emphasises intense speed and finishing the battle in quick blows. It uses intense alternating lunges from one foot to the next, allowing for incredible levels of speed to be reached. The form is made to be used by Beastkin whose enhanced senses allow them to be aware of their surroundings even at high speeds, but it can also be used by others who train.

Ethos: To bring an end to combat and war quickly with all your strength and might, leaving no aspects of yourself behind, as you charge forward with all you are.

Red Branch Battle Arts; Starflower: A technique in which you release seven strikes while moving at high speed.

Red Branch Battle Arts; Clover: A technique where you lunge and, while in motion, right strike all four of their key joints in rapid succession, which completely disables them. Then, with your next lunge, you send your spear right towards their neck.

Red Branch Battle Arts; Skyflower: A technique in which you focus all your strength in your legs, and release kicks that smash into the air, propelling you forward, though after each kick, the given leg is disabled for a moment.

Red Branch Battle Arts; Sonic thrust: A technique in which a single thrust from a stationary position is released that breaks the speed of sound. Depending on the force, it can break the speed of sound multiple times over.

Red Branch Battle Arts; Camellia Japonica: A technique that allows one to move in a particular way that makes it so that the light doesn't capture your movement, leaving behind an afterimage that fades by the time you launch your attack.

Red Branch Battle Arts; Tulip: A technique in which one moves in a large chain of ever-changing patterns at high speed all around their opponent, timing for the moment the enemy blinks, making them near impossible to locate.

Red Branch Battle Arts; Passiflora: A weakened version of Morning Glory.

Red Branch Battle Arts Ultimate Art; Morning Glory: A technique that aligns all previous techniques into one grand lunge that releases a massive amount of force as a single strike move to obliterate your enemy.

 

Holistic Battle Arts: A form of combat in which one blends their soul with their body, allowing them to release far past the maximum amount of Spirit Energy allowed through normal reinforcement, even granting them the ability to project it and shape its form. This style was created by the race known as the Yugaku, as the level of control one needs to use it comes naturally to them, yet other races can learn it through extreme effort.

Holistic Battle Arts; Spirit Cannon: A technique in which the user blasts a beam of Spirit Energy out at their opponent.

Holistic Battle Arts; Spirit Tremor: A technique in which the user releases an intangible wave of their Spirit Energy, sending tremors through whatever it touches.

Holistic Battle Arts; Mould: A technique in which the user moulds their Spirit Energy to take on whatever shape they wish.

Holistic Battle Arts; Spirit Bullet Barrage: A technique in which the user shoots out a large series of Spirit Energy orbs that slam into their opponent.

Holistic battle Arts; Ghost: A technique in which one turns their entire body into spirit energy right before suppressing it. Almost impossible to use for someone who isn't a Yugaku or has fully fused their body and soul.

Holistic Battle Arts, Ultimate Art; Nova: A technique in which the user releases giant amounts of Spirit Energy, allowing them to increase the size and power of all other techniques.

Holistic Battle Arts, Ultimate Art; Spirit Supernova: A technique in which the user releases all Spirit Energy they have in one giant orb of energy, which they explode, causing massive amounts of damage.

 

Beast Blood Battle Arts: A form of combat unique to the Beastkin. The special blood from certain beastkin called Druids, who have branches growing out of their heads, allows them to control all flora through this special fighting style. By dripping blood from an open wound on their bodies, they gain the ability to manipulate flora. The greater in scale the control they exercise, the more blood they use, but for micro adjustments, the use is minimal. In the modern area, it seems that it can be accessed through a different avenue.

Beast Blood Battle Arts; Ceangailte: A technique that makes the surrounding flora move towards a target and bind them.

Beast Blood Battle Arts; Fás: A technique that forces any flora, no matter the form, in the area to grow at high speed.

Beast Blood Battle Arts; Bog: A technique that allows one to move flora at their will.

Beast Blood Battle Arts; Aon: A technique that connects one's nerves to flora of their choosing, allowing them to connect their sense to it, but can also be used to torture enemies.

Beast Blood Battle Arts, Ultimate Art; Glórmhar: A technique which deeply connects one with nature, vastly increasing the range of any other technique.

 

Blestadrac Battle Arts: A form of combat exclusive to those who bear the Blestadrac curse of Alucard. It is a formalised fighting style that aims to efficiently consume the blood they control in attacks that maximise their power. Each techniques strength get's strong the more blood is used.

Blestadrac Battle Arts; Severance: A technique in which the users concentrate large amounts of blood in their blades, before releasing a slash, then sending a large amount of tiny blood slashes flying towards the enemy, eradicating.

Gozen Battle Arts

My fighting style, Gozen Battle Arts, allows me to send Spirit Energy into the body, and the body, seeing this as hostile, sends Spirit Energy to forcefully reject it out of the body, making a little explosion in the part where it took place.

Though this only happens if I send my Spirit Energy in with hostile intent, if I simply send it into a body that allows it to flow inside it will simply just move where I want it.

Now that my Spirit Energy is surrounding your heart, I become a little hostile, and your soul reacts by sending Spirit Energy to your heart to push mine out, and at the same time, I pull mine away. Now, where is your Spirit Energy?"

With that output, you won't even harm me. Like I said, there are only a few ways to exert more force in terms of output. First is the use of the special fighting style developed by the Yugaku, Holistic Battle Arts, to combine flesh and soul, allowing for intense Spirit Energy output. Second is an inhumane level of training till you essentially force your body to increase its output again, and again, yet you'd need to force yourself to the point of death again, and again, and again, which is a near impossible task for any normal being. Finally is to develop a Regalia. Unlike normal Spirit Energy, you can just keep using as much Spirit Energy as you want to activate your regalia, so you can increase its output through sheer numbers.

"That isn't entirely true. Imagine if two people were holding a sword, and both poured their spiritual energy into it. If the two get along, both of their Spirit Energy will be added to the sword, but if they hate each other, they will fight each other within the sword. If one is stronger, it will push the other Spirit Energy out, but if they are equal, they will constantly reject each other, causing an explosion.
