Gawter rolled to the side, the hammer striking the plaza stones where he had been standing. The impact created a crater three feet deep and sent shockwaves rippling outward. Chunks of broken stone flew in all directions like shrapnel.
Before Lodar could recover his hammer for another strike, Gawter was moving. He ran up the handle of the hammer while it was still embedded in the ground, using it as a ramp to reach the giant's head level. His sword slashed across Lodar's face, the enchanted blade finding the tiny gaps between stone plates that covered the giant's skin.
Lodar roared in pain and anger, releasing his hammer to swat at Gawter like a man swatting at a mosquito. But the Blade Sovereign had already launched himself backward, landing in a crouch ten feet away.
Sagona used this moment to unleash her constructs.
