On the dock of Hope Island, Charles had just bent over to get into the backseat of the car when James followed him in.
As the car started, Charles stretched lazily before turning to look at the big man beside him. "What's wrong? Did something happen on the island?"
James, his expression somewhat grave, took out a piece of paper and handed it to him.
Charles looked it over and saw that it was the note he had given to Shanshan. "You gave her the bananas?"
"I did. I took her to the banana plantation. The little girl took a bunch and then just disappeared."
"Mm, good." Charles opened the car window and tossed the paper outside.
But it was clear James hadn't come over just to report this minor issue.
"Captain, that little girl said she's your daughter. Is that true?" he asked, his expression extremely serious.
Charles watched the shops flash past the window. As more and more people came to Hope Island, it was looking increasingly like a bustling city.
