"This is our ship. It's currently being overhauled, but it shouldn't be long before we can set sail. By the way, kid, have you ever been on a ship before?" Deep asked absentmindedly, standing on the deck of the Narwhal.
After speaking for a moment and getting no response from behind him, he turned around. He saw the Narwhal's new sailor standing there, stunned. The man was staring straight at Deep, looking as if he'd been terrified by the merman's appearance.
"What? Never seen a Merfolk before? Think I look scary? Kid, you'd better not get on my nerves. Otherwise, once we're at sea, I'll have you cleaning the toilets every damn day."
Norden Wright, dressed in a blue-and-white short-sleeved shirt, heard this and instantly snapped to attention, his voice booming. "Reporting, sailor chief! Not at all!"
Deep looked him up and down for a moment, muttered a few words under his breath, then turned and pushed open a nearby cabin door. "Come on, I'll show you around inside."
