When Charles stepped onto the round disc again, the weapons and Special Task Force members from before had vanished without a trace, leaving only an empty plaza. Shanshan held Charles's hand, looking around excitedly.
He'd seen this kind of plaza once before, back in the Second Laboratory. For some unknown reason, the Foundation was fond of building these semicircular halls inside their structures.
Standing at the center of the plaza, Charles turned to Parker behind him. "Aren't you going to give me a tour? You're the hosts here; I'm just a guest."
Parker strode forward, taking the lead. "The entire shelter is divided into four levels and is massive in scale. The passages are a complex maze. If you tried to find the Key by yourself, you might be searching for months."
"I can take you to the Central Bureau. From there, we can review surveillance footage covering the entire shelter."
Charles said nothing, simply waving his hand forward in an inviting gesture.
