Seeing that the Yidick before her made no move when she called out to her father, Shanshan glanced over her shoulder at Charles and then tentatively spoke again. "Mom?"
"Mom?" As this concept materialized in Charles's mind, he followed the thread and quickly located some memories that had vanished.
Those memories were already gone, but Charles could now traverse time. He could watch his own past as if it were a film, seeing exactly what had transpired on his timeline.
He saw himself encountering a human-disguised Divait on an island. He saw one of the Divait assume Anna's form and board a ship. He saw their complex entanglement, the love and hate between them, and the culmination of it all—Shanshan.
In the very end, he saw himself sending her to the Earth's surface with 005's wish-granting orb. He had done it to prevent her from becoming what he was now, to keep her from stepping into annihilation.
"Anna?! Anna... Anna."
