Dressed all in white, Bai Lingmiao walked slowly toward the great hall ahead, aided by four lamp-bearing eunuchs.
This was not the palace of the Emperor of Siqi, but his summer retreat. Yet even for a retreat, its scale and decorum followed strict palace customs.
As she drew nearer to the hall, melodious music drifted from within and reached Bai Lingmiao's ears.
As soon as she stepped inside, she saw hundreds of people seated on either side of the hall, their faces beaming as they laughed and exchanged toasts.
Among them were Civil Officials and Military Officers, and even a few Monks and Taoists. The appearances of some were particularly unsettling to behold.
At the very center of the hall, several beauties with bound feet were performing a nimble palm dance upon the hands of armored giants, swirling lightly to the music.
Is this... a celebratory banquet? Bai Lingmiao was momentarily bewildered. Was this the urgent matter from the paper crane?
