Chapter 969 - Synchronisation

Proofread by Thomas F

The core blazed in front of me, bigger than before, with a large planet circulating around it.

"The synchronisation between the two had increased at a much greater pace than we had imagined," said Caena as she looked at the two cores of legacies.

"It is," I replied.

Synchronisation of the two legacies is extremely important because if it is not done well, it could affect the advancement of the master legacy.

It is one reason many thrones hesitate to take the pawn as it affects their prospects of advancement.

It also affects the advancement of pawn, along with emotion gathering and the growth of their cores. If the synchronization between two legacies is high, the Master doesn't have a problem advancing its pawn.

At least, I didn't have to worry about that until my legacy reached Grade V.

"The weight upon our core is rapidly decreasing. If this kept happening, we could take another legacy as pawn," she said, and a moment later, both of us laughed.

I have no desire to take another legacy.

My purpose is to run it well and advance it to Grade V, which might take decades.

"Look at the emotions," I said. It's truly massive, and it is increasing by the day. It's all because of synchronization between the legacies.

The greater it is, the more power it could borrow from the Velvet Garden.

"I am really glad we didn't agree on a percentage with Lord of Inam. Instead went with the fixed number," she said. "That was really wise of us," I agreed.

I didn't agree with the percentage for one reason only. I didn't want anyone to know how much emotion essence the legacies produced.

If I had agreed with the percentage, I would have had to give him less, but it would have publicised the information on the essence.

It is the most closely guarded secret of Velvet Garden. Only two people besides me know how much essence Velvet Garden produces, and I want to keep it that way.

Though the number we know isn't real, as Velvet Graden, it has never harvested emotions to full capacity.

It will after it is open.

A minute later, the core disappeared, and once more, we returned to the roof of the legacy. The highest point in the city and the entire region, we exclude Inam.

There is a high wind, as always, but the new coating they have done is dealing with most of it.

All we are feeling is a gentle, comfortable wind.

"Less than four months remained," she said as she looked at the city around us. "Don't worry, they are moving at a good speed," I replied.

Amellus and Rolgath are both doing an amazing job.

The speed is good, but it's not without a cost. There had been accidents, and they cost a lot, but nobody had died. We made sure of it.

I don't like accidents, but there isn't really a choice. We need it to finish on time.

"Did you find any talent in this new batch of girls?" I asked as I turned toward the college, where a new dorm building is standing beside the old one.

"Yes, there are a few," she replied, with a small smile appearing on her face.

She had selected the girls and formed a coven. Most of the girls she had chosen had received classes as well. Which is surprising because Witch Class is notoriously hard to get.

Though I shouldn't be surprised.

She is a great witch and, on top of that, belongs to one of the oldest families in the world.

"Will they be ready to cast their first spell, a coven spell, by the time of the battle?" I asked. "Yes," she replied confidently.

I will need all the help I can for this battle. Every little bit would count.

Unlike others who were moving, she had focused completely on witchcraft. Teaching it and studying it. I can't wait to see the spells she could cast now that she has the coven.

Everyone is making improvements, but I don't know whether it would be enough to stop the enemies. The enemies are powerful and getting stronger.

Still, we are going to give our all to defeat them.

I stayed on the roof for a few more minutes before descending through the service elevator. Watching the people work through the energy screen.

They are working non-stop every hour.

Soon, the elevator stopped at the base, and I stepped out, and a few seconds later, I was in my carriage.

It moves along a straight line. When the legacy opens, it wouldn't be possible. Three months more, and the road carriage moving through would be submerged.

Velvet Park would be a marvel. It would pull far more of a crowd than before.

It needs to do that, considering the massive size of the legacy.

Sometimes I feel I have built the legacy too big. It wouldn't be able to pull the number of people I want it to. It wouldn't have that problem in cities in Namadar or even in Inam and Owlspring.

The legacy and park would be a beacon that will attract people to the city.

Not only tourists, but also residents and businesses.

I really hope it works; I have bet everything on it. I have even cancelled subsidies on academies and businesses.

It is the reason, another reason is that every fucking person expects me to give them emotion essence. They act as if they are doing me a favor and I should give them essence in exchange.

Valentina is right, we don't have to beg the bastards.

Currently, I am giving incentives and subsidies only to strategic industries. Because of those bastard imperials and others, I am not pulling as much business as I should.

Though I am doing quite well with small firms. Just yesterday, I signed the agreement with another firm.

Soon, the carriage stopped in front of my office, and I stepped out.

When I entered my office, someone was already there. "There is going to be a small change in my itinerary for my trip to Belnin." He said.

He is going to Belnin; there is a function there. He will also meet Ophelia for a few things.

She had helped me with a few things; I am helping her with a few while she is still trying to poach my people from me. It is business; I can't let emotions dictate it.

"Vris'alud?" I asked, and he nodded. "They have requested a meeting," he replied.

We have a meeting, negotiating, and taking a break. I still want to help those poor people who are in there, but I will not give them Lv. 30's.

"Like always, tell them clearly that our red lines are non-negotiable," I replied.

They are doing it over and over, wanting to whittle down our red lines. They will not, I will not give them their powerhouses. They are dangerous people.

"I talked to people from Belnin, they were asking about the store," he said. They will badger him about it when he goes there.

The stores are doing incredibly well in both cities. It was never a surprise. We have already started our work, hosting parties, forming connections with important people, and doing other things.

Though I had asked my people not to cross the line. They didn't need to; we could do a lot more while staying within the limits.

"Tell them, we will only think about the stores after legacy open, but also take a chance to look at the plots they are offering us," I instructed.

Belnin is likely going to be one of the cities where I will open the store next.

It is the most prosperous city of the Merchant States; the second most in the entire continent after the Archmage City, and also one of the most powerful.

The store will help us a lot.

"Empire?" he asked, and I nodded. Merchant states are never a problem; there are difficulties, but they are manageable. It's the empire that gives the most stress.

They want it as well; both prime ministers spoke about it. They didn't ask, but they didn't need to.

If they talk about it, which means they want it.

So, when I open a new batch of stores, some need to be from the empire. Both of them want stores in their cities and the territories of their allies.

I sometimes want to pull my hair whenever I am on a call with them. Instead, I smile, listen, and deflect.

Though there is no option, I have to give them store and pay for them myself. Here, both cities have given interest-free loans to be paid back in five years.

Forget giving me money to build the store; they will ask me to give them stuff for free.

"You will meet the people from the northern kingdoms. We barely have any contact with them. They offer quite a lot of things; we need to build relations with them," I said to him.

We didn't have as much contact with them as we would have liked.

There is so much potential in there. I want to develop them. "The meetings with them have already been set, and I have also prepared some gifts," he replied, and I smiled.

We talked for a few more minutes before he got up to leave.

"Robin, don't push yourself too much with the undead. We will get the people eventually," I said to him. His expression turned serious, and he nodded before walking out.

He is too invested in freeing the people. The undead seemed to recognise that and were playing with him.

I worry about them too, but I will not jeopardise the lives of a million people for a few thousand. I hate such decisions, but I have to take them.

I am the lord; it's my duty.

"You have a call on the Lord of Inam in ten minutes," informed Argys. I know why the man is calling; many have called me for this reason.

Despite our efforts, the news about the mist-crafted weapons has leaked, and now everybody wants them, including the Imperials.

Well, they will not get it. At least not before those two come, and I fight them.
