Suddenly, Bunny sat up straight, as if it had heard something. Just as it was about to jump off the sofa, it was grabbed by the scruff of its neck from behind and lifted into the air. Its four short legs flailed about, but it couldn't break free.
Evan Fairchild strode to the bathroom and tossed Bunny into the bathtub.
Bunny struggled to climb out, but the sides were too slippery. It couldn't get a grip.
"Stay!" Evan Fairchild said, closing the door and walking out.
He heard the sound of the front door opening. 'Melody Monroe must be back!'
"Mommy!" A small figure ran out from a room and threw himself into Melody Monroe's arms. "Mommy, I finished my homework!"
Melody Monroe picked Ian Monroe up and kissed his little cheek. "You're amazing, sweetie!"
Watching the little brat clinging to his woman, Evan Fairchild felt a pang of frustration.
'Why can't I ever be the first one to get a hug when she comes home?!'
