When he got downstairs, he didn't head straight to the kitchen to start dinner. Instead, he scrolled through his contacts until he found a specific number.
He'd saved the number but had never once called it.
'He had no idea if it was still in use.'
The contact name read: Leo Fairchild.
He had just dialed when the call connected.
"Third Uncle?" The voice on the other end sounded a little uncertain.
"Mm."
"Third Uncle, it really is you! Why are you calling me?" Leo Fairchild sounded completely floored. This was a first.
'His Third Uncle was actually calling him!'
"I'm calling to ask you about something."
"About what?"
"At your university, is there a professor named Jonah Lowell?"
"Yes, he is. He's my teacher. Third Uncle, why are you suddenly asking about Professor Lowell?"
"How old is he?"
"He just turned sixty-nine. He'll be seventy soon."
Hearing his age, Evan Fairchild's tense expression relaxed slightly.
"Third Uncle, why do you ask?"
