Evan Fairchild glanced down at the woman in his arms and immediately put down his book.
"Ian Monroe, I'm reading to you, and you're giving me that disgusted look? You dare accuse me of abuse? See? Your mother enjoys it so much, she's already fallen asleep."
"Your reading sounds like a monk chanting. It's hypnotic. It'd be a miracle if Mom *didn't* fall asleep," Ian Monroe retorted.
Evan Fairchild was speechless, his breathing hitching.
"Mom's asleep now. Can you put her down?"
"I'm holding my legal wife! My wife! When you grow up, you'll find a wife of your own and start a new family. Your mother and I are a family. You're not."
Ian Monroe: ...
Seeing Ian Monroe's fuming expression, Evan Fairchild felt he had finally won a round.
'I wonder what other people's kids are like. Are they all like Ian Monroe? This one of ours isn't cute at all. He's actually kind of annoying!'
