Jasper Rockwell nearly choked. He set down his snacks, dusted off his hands, and leaned back on the sofa.
He was so mad he could barely breathe.
"Evan Fairchild, there's nothing wrong with me in *that* department! I just haven't met the right person yet."
"Mm-hm," Evan Fairchild hummed nonchalantly.
"Are you even listening?!"
"I'm listening." Evan Fairchild nodded. "I just don't believe you."
"Pfft!" Jasper Rockwell flopped back onto the sofa with a dramatic gasp, thumping his chest. "I get it! You don't want me here, so you're deliberately trying to provoke me into leaving! Well, let me tell you, it won't work. Say what you want. I'm staying for this meal, and that's final!"
"Suit yourself."
It was just the two of them in the living room now, so Jasper Rockwell decided to change the subject.
