"Thank you," Rose Shaw said softly.
"Are you thanking me for saving you, or for this bowl of porridge?"
Rose Shaw was suddenly speechless. Her gaze fell on Keith Coleman's gauze-wrapped hand.
"Your hand..."
"It's nothing. Just a dislocation. They've already popped it back in. This is just to keep it stable." Keith Coleman moved it a little to show Rose Shaw.
Suddenly, he stepped forward, took Rose Shaw's hand, and said solemnly, "I don't care who you're still in love with. I'm never letting go of your hand again. Not ever!"
Rose Shaw looked up, staring blankly at Keith Coleman.
"If you owe Christopher Sterling your life, then now you owe me your life, too. That puts him and me on equal footing, and I'm confident I can win your heart back."
"Keith Coleman..."
"Have some porridge." Keith Coleman opened the container and handed the spoon to Rose Shaw.
"I can do it myself." Rose Shaw reached for the bowl, but Keith Coleman stopped her.
"It's a little hot. I'll hold it."
